If I were eligible I would be all over this.

Travel Writing Scholarship and ten-day road trip across the USA

The 3 scholarship recipients will receive:

  • A 3-day custom travel writing course in San Francisco with mentor and Lonely Planet author John Vlahides
  • A 10-day road trip across the U.S. (including a $3000 USD stipend to spend on food, transport, activities and accommodation)
  • Round-trip airfare from your country of residence to San Francisco, CA
  • Travel insurance for the duration of the trip from World Nomads

Would be very cool.. I'd give it a crack, I love writing, Buuuttt don't want to be a writer.

I wonder what the odds are maybe 20,000 to 1 ... oh wait there's 3 scholarships, well that brings it down a smidge. It reminds me of the jobs a few years ago to come to Aus and work and live in a resort or desert island or wherever it was, blog and get paid. How many applied for that? It's all great advertising.

All competitions are advertising.

At least with this one, a decent budding travel writer (or three) will get the chance of a lifetime. It is not a **** prize.

World Nomads will get a bunch of free quality articles for their site (I haven't actually looked at the T&Cs, but no doubt one of them is you hand over the rights of the submitted articles to them)

Was ready to throw my hat in but we'll be in Iceland and Greenland  when the road trip is on. I'll just have to keep going with my own blog ;)
