Any arrival lounges at SYD?

My boss in Singapore likes to take the SQ red-eye into SYD when he visits, arriving around 6:00am. He of course wants to take a shower and change and then begin work.

In many other cities he can access the airline lounges to do this, but in SYD he cannot. Previously I've had to book his hotel room for the previous night, but paying for this annoys him so I'm looking for other options. And not my place!

Does anyone else know if there are any other options at SYD?

There are no arrivals lounges at SYD. Some people who have access can use the domestic Qantas Club lounge for a shower and feed. Otherwise you need to find a hotel that will allow you to checkin early.

Hmmm... the domestic QP is a good idea but I'm only an SG so cannot get him in unless I am flying.

The other thought is that I could book a room at the Formule 1 Hotel next to the domestic terminal. That makes the cost of a shower $84.00, but it's cheaper than paying for the previous night at the hotel he will be staying at in Darling Harbour.

Check with the hotel. They may be able to arrange an early check-in for you. Many Sydney hotels are used to such requests due to the abundance of early flight arrivals from Asia and USA.

A local airport hotel may be able to sort out a "day rate" for just the shower.

I'm pretty sure the Hilton Melbourne offers day rates, as well as some other airport hotels in Australia.

If status enough with certain hotels, he may be able to use the gym for free at the hotel. Gyms tend to have showers...

Qantas were planning an arrivals lounge for Syd T1. No idea what happened to the concept. Would have been nice to freshen up at the Intl terminal after a long haul flight home.
