Looks a bit like the Silversea of old , perhaps they have lifted their game.
How was LaDame ? We don't usually bother with the specialty restaurants but we have a freebie to use on our next cruise

I really liked the intimate atmosphere and the fine dining presentation of the food and it was nice to get away from people. Service was terrific, but then that was generally the case. Food was good but no better really than the other restaurants, except maybe for the soufflé for dessert which was very good.

During the night we sailed down the Gerlache Strait to get to Cuverville. There was a very arduous climb planned fro 6:30 am - including cutting steps in the ice. SIL would have been fine, but I don't think the rest of us could have coped, so we gave it a miss. There was a wet landing later in the morning at Cuverville for the rest of us.

After that the Captain opened up the forward deck as we sailed down the spectacular Errera Channel to Neko Harbour. These photos and the next are from the Channel quite spectacular. Camera really doesn't capture it!20190111- Ant-241.jpg 20190112- Ant-135.jpg 20190112- Ant-137.jpg 20190112- Ant-138-Edit.jpg 20190112- Ant-143.jpg 20190112- Ant-147.jpg 20190112- Ant-157-Pano-Edit.jpg

Thanks for trying on the glasses and the positive results. Looks like I will purchase a pair when they are in stock. Did you buy direct or from a distributor?

I bought direct. They had problems getting them through Customs - I guess a combination of Christmas and the Yellow Vest protests. They were friendly and good to deal with - just didn’t deliver in time :).

[email protected] is the email - I would be interested to hear how you go if you do take them on a cruise. Antoine Jeanin was who I dealt with.

Thanks. I have emailed Antoine about a purchase. Waiting on a reply.

I'm really enjoying your photos, FM.
What a difference blue sky makes!
We had just the best weather! When we landed at Zeko Harbour, some of the guys were walking around bare chested and taking Macho photos in the snow. Even Ms FM and I shed our parkas and used them as picnic rugs, so we could sit in the snow and enjoy the views.

Then we did a wet landing (of course) at Zeko Harbour. There was a glacier quite near and you had to clear the beach area as quickly as possible, as when an ice berg calved it created a bit of tsunami which could swamp the beach. We did see some waves happening, but never big enough to cause an issue. Very loud crack as the iceberg fell. This is one happening20190112- Ant-277.jpg

and a few more. They like to grab pebbles and add them to the nestsView attachment 152318 View attachment 152319 View attachment 152322
They use the pebbles to build up the nests so that they can keep them dry. And also they are given as a courting gift - the nicer the stone, the better his chances! Sometimes it looked like Mrs Gentoo did not like the pebble that her partner had brought her and she would send him scurrying off to find a better one. There was also a bit of pebble thievery attempted.

Yes we saw some of the thievery in action - it was really funny :)
