Afternoon all

Just joined. Can anyone let me know if there is anything that can be done with these old points. I have about 800K, but as you can see, I've been very lax trying to find out if there are any options.

Thank you in advance. Kind regards
Mark

You could try putting them up for auction on EBay :D .

Seriously, though, they are as worthless as an empty beer can ... you can sit and look at it on the shelf and wonder what might have been if it had not gone down the girgler.

If you want some more I've a spare 160,000+ that you can add to your collection :!:

There was some program mentioned in this board that allows you to reclaim Ansett points by spending money at a few online shops. But I did not find tht program anyworthwhile and did not bother to join. You may have to probably spend $800K to get all your points back. :D

Ansett

You shoudl have seen it comng like I did. I was on one of the last flight back from Bali before they went under, the stewardness said "we;re ok, all the flights are full".

Anyway, when the news came, I called the Ansett FF hotline (put the phne on speaker phone) and waited 2 hours to get through. Made sure I used all my 45,000 points, bought a business class ticket on Air New Zealand, walked up to the Ansett/Air New Zealand travel centre at Martin place anmd paid my $80 airport tax, flew out the next morning (Friday). Got to the Sydney airport (fog bound) and Ansett had stopped flying, heard later that Helen Clarke (PM of NZ) of stopped getting out of Melbourne. Air NZ had no choice to accept my ticket as it was on their paper. I was worried i may not get back, they looked at it, but honoured it. Thank goodness i bet them at their own game. Maybe my 20 years in the insolveny worlk helped me, makes me cynical too!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

You could use them to buy one of the Ansett aircraft still at Tulla, not sure if it would be good value though!
