No refund or apology from Tiger

TIGER Airways says it will not offer a refund to a 13-year-old girl staff reduced to tears when they refused to fly her home to Melbourne from the Gold Coast because she was under age.
It has also refused to acknowledge or apologise for the 'unprofessional' way in which staff dealt with Jordyn Giles when she arrived at the Gold Coast departure lounge on Wednesday, according to her aunt, Lisette Giles.

Boo friggen hoo.

Once again, a parent decides that someone else is to blame for their mistake. And that they deserve compo/refund for their mistake. Life doesn't work that way (although people seem to think that it does these days )

Let's see. It took me <1 minute to find this quote on the Tiger website by looking at the Children and Infants advice of "Before you fly":
Welcome To Tiger Airways

Tiger Airways does not carry unaccompanied children (below 14 years). Escort and special facilities are NOT available. Children below the age of 14 must be accompanied on the same reservation by a passenger above the age of 18 years who will take full responsibility for the minor.

Tiger Airways will carry minors aged 14 to 18 upon completion of a signed indemnity form at the point of check-in at each departure airport, by a parent or guardian. Passengers aged 14 to 18 years travelling unaccompanied must present the required valid documentation prior to check-in. Parents or guardian must remain at the airport until the flight has departed.

Tiger may have stuffed up in Melbourne by letting her board - but as is generally the case, we do not know what conversation occurred in Melbourne (note showing a birth certificate doesn't mean people will check the date if they see it as an "identification" document rather than a "Look at my child"), and no-one knows what was in the "letter".

Very true... why don't people take responsibility for their actions?

The parents had obviouly read this because they had written the indemnity letter... They obviously knew the rules and were trying to get her on the flight anyway - Unfortunately for them, it didn't pay off.
