Hey All,

I have a RTW trip coming up in Feb/Mar and was wondering if you think it's worth joining.

I have Qantas FF membership, but low points and only bronze status.

EDIT

I've been doing some more digging and was wondering about a few of the pay lounges instead, I think that this would be an overall cheaper experience.

BKK - CIP Lounges
LAX - relaxloungelax
LAS - The Club At Las
MAN - T1 Escape Lounge

What are your thoughts, not only on the price and whether it's worth it, but also on the quality of the lounges.

---------

Leg 1. Perth T1 to Bangkok - TG482 - no lounge here :(

Leg 2. BKK to Zurich - LX181 - couple of hours at BKK airport

Leg 3. Zurich to Manchester - LX390 - stop over only an hour in Zurich

Leg 4. Manchester T1 to Zurich - LX391 - couple of hours at Manchester airport

Leg 5. Zurich to Miami - LX64 - stop over only an hour in Zurich

Leg 6. Miami to Las Vegas - not booked yet, may even be from Key West.

Leg 7. Las Vegas to Los Angeles - again not booked yet

Leg 8. Los Angeles (Terminal B?) to Sydney T3 - QF12

Leg 9. Syd T3 to Per - couple of hours at Sydney

I reckon I'd use it at BKK, Manchester, Las Vegas, LA.

Thanks for your time,

Steve.

Citibank Select also offers complimentary PP membership.

Still waiting for my PP card though !

Diners is another option that also nets 15K sign up and gives you a lounge at almost every airport except in Australia.

I struggle to see the business case myself Stevied71. There must be one of course as PP has been around for ages, so folks must be getting benefits from it - but I don't fly international all that much, maybe 3-4-5 times a year, and so far it seems to me that pay lounges just work out cheaper. In fact, many of the PP lounges are the same pay lounges that are available to you anyway, and some of them are cheaper than US$27 to gain entry to.

Probably, for those flying international a _lot_, in Y, the highest tier of PP would prove worthwhile, the free entry but higher annual fee version.

I'm mindful though that if one were flying this many int. legs then you'd probably have decent status across airlines anyway and would probably have a fair chance at lounge access via status ... so, ultimately, I too would love to see the case for PP.

Be very careful. I joined over a year ago & found it easier to by single day passes to DECENT lounges (ones with showers, free food & booze etc). Anyhow, I never used the card. With over 2 weeks of my membership remaining, I found an unauthorised charge of US$109 on my credit card. I immediately emailed them and demanded that they reverse the charge. The next day I received a letter which I assume contained next year's membership card etc. I returned this unopened. They responded to my email that they would cancel my membership and refund the amount AFTER they received the card. It took nearly a month & a threat to refer the issue to my credit card provider to get it reversed.
