Given the generous donation of AFF fees to the Queensland RSPCA, I finally took the plunge and formalised my association through a membership. It’s a natural match given my perverse interest in internet forums and frequent flyer schemes. Sorry for living my WP fantasies through you guys and a few well traveled friends for so long.

My CV
  • I pay for my Qantas Club myself and renewed for 5 years just before the recent changes;
  • I generally fly QANTAS if not One World and consider myself a satisfied customer;
  • I consider myself loyal but without access to a shower, spritzers and nibbles (particularly on international) it would be game on as to what airlines I fly;
  • Most years I have silver status - couldn’t see myself paying for status but I do try and maximize my tally;
  • My partner and I spend between $5,000 to $10,000 a year on flights; and
  • I’ve had a lot of luck with Qantas domestic upgrades but never with Qantas International (other carriers are more kindly)
I welcome my active membership and say goodbye to persistent lurker status.

Cardinal,

Welcome to AFF. :D

With a little bit of planning and help you should be able to get to at least Gold with that sort of spend. :cool:

Welcome to AFF Cardinal!

With that sort of spend it may worthwhile for one of you to aim for Gold status and then no need to pay Qantas Club membership for a while.
