ANA Holdings Inc., Japan’s largest airline, split a 1.7 trillion yen ($16.6 billion) order for new aircraft between Boeing Co. and Airbus Group NV in the biggest purchase in the carrier’s history.
ANA agreed to buy 40 aircraft from Boeing and 30 planes from Airbus, the Tokyo-based airline said in a statement today. The jets will be delivered between fiscal year 2016 and 2027, according to the statement. The order was approved by the carrier’s directors at a meeting today.
The airline is buying seven A320neo models and 23 A321neo planes from Airbus. From Boeing, ANA agreed to buy 20 777-9X, 14 787-9 and six 777-300ER, according to the statement.

I bet the price would have been better if that bought all Boeing or all Airbus.

I am little perplexed to why they would want to buy some from both manufacturers. IMHO wouldn't maintenance be easy if they where all Airbus or all Boeing.

Anyway the sales rep that did the deals will have a good Xmas bonus for the next 11 years or so.

ANA already operate the A320, so not a huge surprise.

It is interesting that the widebody order is all Boeing. They must have really wanted this one after losing The JAL order to Airbus.

Those 6 777-300ERs would have been quite cheap IMO to make up for 787 issues and it helps keep the line moving until the 777X comes around

If you look at their current fleet, it fits into what they already have.

I expect they would have been very cheap. The 777 backlog is still over three years at the current rate, but they will need orders to fill the gap until 2020 (assuming they deliver on time). Maybe QF can pick up a couple 77W's :p
