ANA partnership with Virgin Australia

Regarding lounge access, I think I can understand NH's hesitation. If you have been to NH's lounges in Japan recently, you will find yourself struggle to even find a seat. Perhaps when the peak season is over, they will re-visit reciprocal lounge access but wonder how many people would jump ship from QF if VA had been in *A.
Just joining an Alliance by itself doesn't guarantee financial profit. i.e *A didn't help Ansett's bottom line when Ansett joined *A.

Just tried to add my Velocity number to an existing ANA booking. Velocity now appears in the list but I get an error message:

We were unable to verify your mileage number.
If you have recently registered as a new member, it may take some time for your registration to be processed, so please try again tomorrow or at a later date.

I wonder if it is because their system merges first and middle names so the record doesn't match Velocity's, but I doubt it is that sophisticated. May just have to get it added at the airport.
Something I feared and not totally surprised.🫣

It probably helped Air NZ's though. At that time they were flying SYD-LAX non stop, and SYD-LHR via LAX.

Does lounge access work the other around around for premium NH pax down under in local VA lounges?

Yep. Took this photo two months ago in Haneda. 6~7 hour wait for the shower o_O. Also overheard lounge desk turning away *G pax flying on non-NH airlines due to capacity reasons.

Just tried checkin with ANA in HND. They simply couldn’t add my VFF number. Ensued a long string of apologies, bows, having 3 agents frantically type nothing on a computer, even more bowing.

Day 1 never is so smooth.
I would expect VA to honour a retro claim pretty readily in a case like this, where their brand-new partnership isn't fully integrated on the IT side yet.

Sat down at the service desk in the lounge to get to the bottom of this. Lady was extremely nice (finally felt like I was talking to a human), we tried multiple things such as looking for VA, Velocity, Velocity Frequent Flyer.. you name it. Either they wouldn’t show up or when entering my number it would show an error message along the lines of « No agreement ».

Definitely something missing on the IT side. I just asked her to remove my UA number and I’ll try my luck with the Velocity hotline later.

Well.done in trying and letting us all.k ow your experiences. Hoping the flight goes well.and.happy travels. Let's hope they report it in and it all gets sorted relatively quickly.

Good luck with that!

FYI ANA is not currently available on the online retro claim form...but I guess that makes sense as they make you wait 2 weeks before submitting...so the earliest possible date to submit an NH retro claim is 18 July + 14 days.

If Velocity points can be used to redeem NH flights in the near future, hopefully there will be NH premium award flights available. Coz right now, NH premium award flights are as rare as hens teeth.

I’ve had exactly the same issue and error message. VFF appears as option in drop-down menu, so intention is there, but just doesn’t seem to be functional. And booking reference not compatible with adding it through Velocity app/site. Any other suggestions?

On an upcoming booking with NH/UA I was able to add it via the UA website.

Probably worth a quick email to Velocity to let them know this isn't working yet. At worst, they already know and they tell you they're working on it.

There’s an airline partnership table in esch GDS, they probably haven’t been updated yet, once NH is added to VA the linkages will work.

RE: showers. I passed through Haneda J lounge the other week and snagged a shower within ten minutes. The lounge itself was a zoo, no surprize NH doesn't want more people with access
