If you want to use it for a flight between Perth and Sydney, the flight must start out of Perth (you can see here the options out of Sydney are more limited distance-wise, finally a benefit for WA residents). What may work for you is to book the Perth to Sydney leg as part of one trip and the Sydney to Perth as part of another.
