Amex travel credit

So concerning redeeming travel credit can I have some tips and tricks to get the best outcome please.

My current gathered info is:
Logged in and went to travel credit and flights.
For domestic offered was round trip route and dates:
1.Jetstar times better but have to pay luggage.
2. Virgin had credit left over $80.
What can u do with that?
3. Qantas only option is 6am flight!

I want to use Qantas lounge with passes I have but Jetstar only allowed to drop bags 1 hr before flight and lounge is in different terminal!!!!!

So should look at one way flights and use more credit..... but I think the system only offers lowest fair?
Does ringing and waiting on hold have access to better options not displayed online?
I assume the closer to the date the prices will go up for flights?
Can you put in another name on ticket other than card holder?

Any tips and tricks appreciated to get best out of travel credit.

I've used AMEX travel credit to pay for hotels in the last few years. I compare the direct booking cost vs the AMEX travel pricing and if they are the same then I book and use my AMEX travel credit. This year I've used my Platinum Charge and Explorer travel credits for hotel accomodation on Fitzroy Island. The AMEX Travel price was cheaper than booking direct with the hotel.

So using Amex travel credit for multi flights.
I'm on the website and attempted MELB->BRIS-->SYDNEY->MELB

It says that "

Flight 2: Please note you cannot include more than 1 flight between the same cities"

Remove flight but goes thru to booking and price.
Will it not let me use travel credit to pay?

Edit: At checkout it let's me use travel credit for this trip....
Seems it only prevents if attempting a visa INITIAL point of origin Melb... when attempted a separate extra flight leaving Melb on another day

Well I ended up booking above and total for $17 after travel credit. But Covid stuffed return flights. So put in for two options, 1. Less than credit to use 2. higher than credit to use
1. direct 2. stop over. They came back the next day and said $22 extra for direct flight.

Knowing the cost fare is $50 I paid with Amex credit total $206!

If I paid for my partner's QF flight with my Amex travel credit, can I then apply my QF Lounge voucher, which is in my QFF account, to her flight? I'm not included on her ticket. She's not a QFF member, nor an Amex customer.

As far as I am aware, you can gift lounge invitations, but they have to be to anotehr Qantas FFlyer -I've given invitations to family. Why doesnt she join QFF set up a pfofile then you can send her the lounge invistation from your account to her account. After that she needs to specify a booking/flight number to use the invitation with

Similar question to nightelves .. I am about to cancel my card.
It just ticked past 12 months, so the $450 qantas credit is available.

Hypothetically - if I book something, spend the credit in full then cancel the card (within the grace period to get full refund of annual fee) .. what happens?
Anybody have any expereince?
