Hi All,

I just discovered a merchant who I was going to buy some furniture off using my AMEX has just changed owners and hence their banks etc. they now don't except AMEX, I already have a $2000 deposit non-refundable with them, so can't just buy from somewhere else.
Question is has anyone had any success of buying a prepaid visa/mastercard using AMEX, if so where from and how?
Also would it work if I buy a giftcard of some sort then use it to purchase the Visa/MC?

Coles and Australia Post sell a Flight Centre Prepaid VISA which can be used anywhere that Visa debit cards are accepted. They come in $150 & $250 variants, but cost $156.95 and $257.95 respectively to purchase. Coles had a promotion a fortnight ago where you received $10 off your next shop if you bought one of these, however this promotion is now over.

Thanks, but can you confirm that you can purchase them with Amex?

Mind blown

Check that you can re-load using Amex too

Some prepaid and reloadable cards I looked at a while back you could only re-load vis EFTPOS (BPAY)

Unless you have coupons, the flight centre cards are probably not a good deal for you.

Ok, really simple. Surely the Westfield XS card will be easiest. Pay on Amex, you get an EFTPOS card - so can pay 'by savings'. Minimal extra cost (0.5%) for the privilege.

This will be much cheaper than the FC card at Coles. As for reloadable cards, good luck. These things come and go, there was one a while back that got shut down. Those around reload by bpay, or in the case of Woolworths cash (not credit) over the counter.
