Amex suspending transfers to Emirates Skywards indefinitely

The following notice currently appears on the American Express website:

Emirates: Alert, Upcoming Outage. From 28 May, transfer of Membership Rewards points to Emirates will be temporarily unavailable, while Emirates undertakes a system maintenance. During this time, our Customer Service team will be unable to assist with transfers over the phone or chat. Please plan ahead and transfer points ahead of this date. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Just in case anyone was planning to transfer their Amex points to Emirates, despite the recent changes to First redemptions (i.e. you can't get them unless you have Skywards status).

This is a global issue and also affecting other transfer partners. I noticed a comment from an "insider" on an OMAAT article saying it's due to EK migrating to a new loyalty management system, but who knows if that's legit

Both Amex and Chase are suspending points transfers to Emirates Skywards. What exactly is going on here? This is strange.

Thanks for the heads up as I read it for Chase but not for Amex..

VERY annoying as I will need to transfer some points during this time but only if seats are available and it's too far out to book now
