No chance of compensation demand because you didnt incur a loss. The only thing you can hope for is a goodwill bonus, but thats only going to happen unless they think you are worth keeping as a customer.

You did admit at the start that this is a legislative requirement, there isnt much you can do about that. It doesnt matter what you say they told you on the phone, its whats in writing that counts, and thats what the ombudsmen will decide on.

part of me going to ombudsman was to get them to acknowledge their repeated mistake and rectify it, which they didnt,
its for matter of principal for me, I always usually ask for higher than what I think is fair, and take their first offer, in the past I have donated the compensation to charity depending on the amount or the nature of the issue

all calls are recorded by amex, that I know, and they do listen to it, even for silly enquiries such as "oh the last rep told me my bonus points would be credited by a week", they actually go back and listen to them, even if it would be ten times easier just to credit the 1000 points I was promised

the case was escalated as I wasnt happy with their reply about 2 weeks ago, apparently its in the queue/waiting list

we will see how it goes,
 
If I was in this situation, I would begin to question if all my time and effort is worth the supplementary cards.
I can deal without supp cards not a problem but both my primary accounts has been stopped as well at present

TLDR:
Sent all required info except one person, informed them that I didnt mind that Supp card to be cancelled

2 weeks later, they denied receiving the info,
another week later, apparently they found it, sent to the wrong department, and they were looking to reinstate account within a week

1 week later, another letter saying they want bank account statements and assets, provided that,

received a call today saying all accounts reinstated, except the one that no info was provided, apologies, and gesture of goodwill here is 10k points, and if im satisfied to let AFCA know,

thanked them, declined the 10k points nd have checked all the account, will continue with AFCA as it has already been escalated/allocated a few weeks ago

final update: after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, I made certain demands, and submission of evidence,

Amex agreed upon $2200 in compensation,

finally, a bit of justice,

so im going donate $2000 to charity and spend the rest taking family out to a posh meal

I am happy with the outcome but it should never have gotten to this, I am not sure how much amex got charged for AFCA involvmenet
