I noticed today I no longer have the ability to refer people for the Qantas Ultimate card.
The functionality isn't there in the app or on desktop.
However I do still have the ability to refer people for my other Amex card (Platinum Charge) - so it's clearly a card-specific issue.
I wonder if this is because I've shared my Qantas Ultimate referral link on AFF and OzBargain? It's clearly against the T&Cs but I haven't heard of it being enforced.
The last time I got a referral bonus was in late March. I got 20k, which I thought was unusual because it means the person applied for the 60k offer, not the 100k that ended earlier that month.
Prior to that I got 40k in early March when I legitimately referred a friend to get the 100k bonus.
Prior to that I got 4 x 20k bonuses in Nov & Dec 2024 - which was definitely unusual as I hadn't shared my link anywhere new in a while, two of the bonuses were on the same day, and the sign-up offer for new customers was an unexciting 50k, so why would people suddenly go for it?
It makes me think my referral link was shared somewhere and/or being used for nefarious purposes - although why someone would do that, I don't know.
Amex's T&Cs clearly state they can remove you from the referral program. I wonder if they saw the red flags and did just that.
Anyway, a cautionary tale!
