Amex Platinum - no longer worth it?

Not saying you're doing anything wrong. Just it must be costing Amex a fortune to be providing lounge access & travel insurance to so many people for a single annual fee.
I'd rather hope that if they choose to implement fee for AUs, that it only applies from say the 3rd or 4th AU.

I suppose they would make the the 2nd card free as we have free PP for an additional cardholder which I think the US doesn't have (unless I am mistaken)

A number of professional associations and trade unions have the cheaper rate as one of their membership perks. In my case I get it through membership of the teachers' union, but if you're a member of a union or professional association (think AMA, CPA etc etc) then you should check its website to see if you have access to that rate.
Interested in this if you can give more info...

I'm a teacher too (VIC, government, secondary) and don't see any union based Amex benefits, unless I'm not looking hard enough?

I'm at an independent school so I'm in the IEU rather than the AEU. I'd assumed that the AmEx benefit was available to AEU members as well as IEU members but it may be that I was wrong ... sorry. As posted above, the AmEx benefit comes through Member Advantage which the IEU is affiliated with.

Right. Cheers for that - all the best for the last couple of days of Term 3!
