curious to know how quickly reward bonus points hit people's accounts once they hit the $550 spend. ive surpassed that amount and no sign of the 15,000. wondering if its my currently held amex cards that are the issue here.

Usually pretty quickly. Has your referrer had theirs credited?
Some on AFF have boasted success whilst holing another amex. How many do you already hold?

Mine posted within hours. AMEX is very good like that.

Unlike your average bank issued cards, where points can take weeks or months to post (as per their T&C's of course!).

Yes I believe my referer has received their points. To be honest I thought the number of Amex card I hold would preclude me from getting the card in the first place. Platinum charge. Amex velocity platinum. Amex reserve. After I'd applied I'd remembered seeing posts on here where members were knocked back as the max being one charge two others. The fact I now have 4 may have pushed it over the edge. So to speak.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I am interested in this card, but have a few questions.

If I wanted to transfer the points to QFF is it 1:1.
Is there a limit of transfers per year?
How long can you keep the points in membership rewards?
If I had the ANZ Platinum card and cancelled last August, is it too soon to apply?

Hi ellen, transfer is not ok to Qantas with this card. I think there are better options like *A unless you have something specific in mind. Transfer is 1:1

Points do not expire whilst you maintain the card.
I do not think the ANZ plat will be a problem for an application after this time.

pm me if you'd like to chat about it.

Amex bank issued (ANZ issued) cards aren't going to be an issue here only Amex issued cards.
I don't believe Qantas is a transfer partner unless you are already a member of their Ascent Premium rewards. Transfer partners are as follows:-
Including Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer, Emirates Skywards, Etihad Guest, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Air New Zealand Airpoints[SUP]TM[/SUP] , THAI Royal Orchid Plus, Malaysia Airlines Enrich and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles[SUP]TM.

[/SUP]As long as your account is active you can keep them in there.
I am new to this card so I am happy to stand corrected.
I missed out on the 15,000 bonus points due to having too many Amex cards and recently applying for the Velocity Amex . Still happy to have the card in my wallet due to the particular point earn it gives. So Id be very happy to pick up 10,000 from a referral.

I will investigate the options.

Hey Everyone,

Yet another referral offer for the Platinum Edge card, which I'm sure most of the forum members have by now. If not, i'd be very appreciative if you could use my link!

To recap the great card benefits, you'll get a complimentary return domestic flight on Virgin each year upon payment of the annual fee. Using my link will get you 15,000 bonus points instead of 10,000 that is available online. I will also get 10,000 Points for each sign up :)

$195 Annual Fee, plus international and domestic travel insurance (see the website for full details on this)

Happy Travels!

Your story of missing out won me over as I'm not sure if I'll get the 15k either. Hopefully you get your 10k! And hopefully someone can take up my link when I post it :D

From above.. got my link now.

http://amex.com.au/refer/sujoycbTv6

Please note that my link is 10k Points + No annual fee first year. (compared to 15k points + fee) Not sure why my link is different but hopefully someone can enjoy nevertheless! I also recently got another AMEX card so ineligible for my sign up bonus so would love for someone to show me some love :D

Just an amended link to my referral, as opposed to the referral above. As many other members, I wasn't eligible to earn any sign up points due to already having an AMEX, so this is a great deal for the both of us. You'll receive all the usual Platinum Edge benefits, plus 10,00 bonus points when spending $550 within 2 months, and NO annual fee!

Thanks to all. http://amex.com.au/refer/jacksk0Uk

This is a great little card, and is extraordinary value!!! This was the first card I applied for in my hunt to grow my frequent flyer points balance and if I was only allowed to pick one card this would be it. More on why I think this shortly, but if you want to apply straight away, the current offer expires 30th May 2016, and a current referral link is HERE!

Now onto why I think this is a great and very versatile card, and with a annual fee of $195, it isn’t going to break the bank!

The secret to this card is it’s points earn, balance or put another way, the bonus points on particular earn categories:

+ 3 points per dollar on supermarket shopping. Given most people buy groceries, this is a really easy way, 3 points per dollar, to increase you points balance. You want find a better earn rate on your groceries than this one!! You can maximise this by buying gift cards for other shops with your groceries and earn $3 points / dollar on these too. Examples might including buying JBHiFi gift cards to purchase a new phone (you can also get around JB’s credit card surcharge with this!)
+ 2 points per dollar on petrol. Like food, most of us buy petrol, so this is a really easy way to grow your points balance too!
+ 1 point per dollar on everything else.

This card also includes a couple of other very valuable features, which are:

+ One free domestic return flight on Virgin Australia per year. This alone easily justifies the annual fee. The flights I booked were worth $436 return, so this was a pretty good deal for me.
+ The widest variety of transfer partners of any Australian Credit Card. These include: Singapore Airlines Kris Flyer, Virgin Australia, Ethiad and SPG (for onward transfers to BA, AA, United etc)
+ Free travel insurance – as always read the T&C’s carefully here!!

For me this card is kind of a no-brainer. The annual fee is covered by the free flight and the points earn at the supermarket and on petrol can’t really be beaten. If you are keen to apply the 15,000 bonus Membership Rewards points on offer now expires on the 30th of May 2106. This is only available through a referral link.

Quick Card Summary (from the AMEX website):

+ 15,000 Membership Rewards bonus points if you apply by 30 May 2016, are approved and spend $500 on your new Card within the first 2 months of Card Membership.
+ Earn 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at major supermarkets
+ Earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at major petrol stations
+ Earn 1 Membership Rewards point per dollar spent on all other purchases excluding utilities, insurance (except those issued by American Express), telecommunication providers and government bodies in Australia where you earn 0.5 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent
+ Free domestic return flight every membership year
+ Complimentary comprehensive domestic and international travel insurance when you pay for travel on your card you will receive

As before, if you’d like to apply my HERE IS MY REFERRAL LINK and I’d be very grateful to anyone who is kind enough to use my link.

+ 2 points per dollar on petrol. Like food, most of us buy petrol, so this is a really easy way to grow your points balance too!

If you take the advice from your post above, buy a Woolies Gift Card & then use this at the Woolies petrol station. This will effectively score you 3 points per $ for your fuel & snacks (plus get 4c off/litre if you spent $30 or more at Woolies).
