Hi,

Has anyone used the Platinum Charge Card's Travel Insurance?

Any problems? I am very eager to hear about the medical components, that is my primary concern. I am worried I may get ill and am not covered. A friend had a heart attack over there and it cost him USD$80,000 as he had no insurance.

What is your opinion of the AMEX Travel Service - is it good?

Has anyone taken advantage of the cruise benefits? Specifically on a Holland America Cruise?

Six of us are looking at travelling to America and go on an Alaskan Cruise.

The benefits to me as i see it are:
3 Suites @ USD$300 = USD$900 onboard credit,
Insurance for 6 = Approx $800(?)

it would appear to be a good deal, as it would only cost an extra $500 over the Platinum Credit Card, but once again i am unsure to the quality of the insurance coverage...

Any opinions?

Finally, why do they only provide 4 supplementary card holders, compared to the platinum credit card which provides up to 99 supplementary cards??

Thanks heaps for any opinions!

None of us have had any problems. It took about 3 to 4 weeks each time for payment to come through. No questions were asked. 2 of the cases were basic doctors visits for general flu symptoms and 1 claim was for a camera that was stolen. AMEX over these 3 claims paid out about $1000 in total.

The travel service overall is good however like everything it depends on the consultant you deal with as personally found a few not to be good.

Can't help with that as never used it.

If you have questions re the travel insurance call the Platinum Charge card service during business hours and ask to speak to the underwriters and they address in detail your specific case/concern. I did that before I travelled.

Not sure - think just a restriction on the card, call them sure you could get around it if needed.
