Hi all,

American Express Referrals are back, anyone looking to get the AMEX Platinum Charge Card it's a better deal if you get referred. You get 90,000 AMEX membership reward points (instead of 80,000 if you apply directly) and I get 20,000 for referring you.

Send me a PM if you are interested.

Makes the $1,200 annual fee slightly more palatable.

There is the usual clause about not holding an American Express issued card for the previous 12 months to be entitled to the bonus. Bank issued American Express cards are fine.

Card details are below.

Card benefits:

Access to more than 800 airport lounges in 100 countries2, including the Virgin Australia lounge3
Dedicated Platinum Concierge Service4 to take care of travel plans, tickets or dinner reservations
Earn up to 3 Membership Reward points per dollar spent on your Card5
You can transfer your points to a choice of 10 leading airline rewards programs6
Platinum's by invitation only program7 gives you access to exceptional events and experiences that are not open to the general public
Enjoy great savings on First and Business Class fare with some of the worlds leading airlines through the Platinum Airline Privileges program8, and receive price certainty on your First and Business Class fares with select airlines9
$1,200 p.a. Card fee
Charge Cards have no preset spending limit and no interest charges. All you need to do is pay off your balance in full each month.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Updating my Platinum Charge Card referral.

Apply by 15th of August 2016 using the below link and if you are approved, spend $1,000 in the first 2 months of card membership you will receive 120,000 MR points and I receive 60,000 MR points.

To me this card is easily the best premium card on the market and represents great value year after year.

I don't think anyone can argue with the value in year one with the 120,000 MR points sign on bonus together with the benefits listed below. But what about after that?

A simple "What have you done for me lately?" phone call to American Express just after my annual fee has been charged has proved very rewarding.

Basically I called Amex after my annual fee was charged and told them I was considering canceling the card is there anything they can offer me to keep it.

Last year they offered me 72,000 MR points and then this year 83,000 MR points!

A friend of mine was offered 150,000 MR points to stay! He couldn't accept them fast enough!

This is an amazing bonus and another reason why I love this card. FTR I spend around $12,000 a month with a few overseas trips a year put on the card. This bonus is obviously not guaranteed but it's worth asking for.

A couple of more benefits of this card that I thought i'd mention.

One little known benefit is you can get a second card in your name as a supplementary card. This second card is referred to as an A/C card and is designed for you to use for all your direct debits, paypal etc in case you ever lose your main card you don't need to change everything over.

An additional benefit of the A/C card is registering it for some of the many Amex cash back offers on top of your main card.

I worked out over the past 12 months I have received $670 cash back from Amex from their great cash back offers. So good!
