Amex Platinum Approval time?

I had a google around today - looks like AFR subscription only available with the corporate platinum charge card.

I've checked this too and it's true. I've PM'd a link to M@rco to try as well and we'll report back on its success shortly.

I held my charge for 2 years previously for the annual fee of $900. I couldn't find $900 worth of value. Now it's at $1200, what do you guys use to make it worthwhile?

Maybe one day I will return but not at the moment.... Have the plat edge, westpac black and citi signature...

So far:

- Companion Platinum Reserve (Free short haul international flight) -$395pa
- Virgin/AMEX/PP Lounge
- AFR Subscription (Confirmed working) - $600ish
- Accor upgrade ($319pa) and other various tier upgrades with other Hotels and Rentals
- Four supplementary cards included, so I have family raking in purchases and points ($49ea on my old Green)
- MR already included (saving another $80pa)

That's what I've used it currently and it's already returned my value.

I already have a Citi Signature ($0pa) for Priority Pass and keeping my affinity Platinum Edge ($99pa) for a cheap return flight

Ok thanks. I never travelled much so the lounges don't really attract me. Is yours a business plat charge? Never knew the personal play charge gives afr sub??

I save more than $1200 a year on hotel benefits through FHR alone... Getting a free night at say Landmark MO HKG twice a year is already more than the annual fee.

I've been actually thinking of dropping this to move to the Citi Prestige but FHR as well as the restaurant partnerships (guaranteed tables at restaurants I frequent can't be beat) are what's holding me back from making the move.

I already have a Platinum Edge and I applied for the Platinum Charge on Saturday. Veda Alert on Sunday for the credit check. Heard nothing from Amex as of yet. Fingers crossed...

I'd expect something tomorrow Beta. When I applied Plat, it was a Friday night and got a text Saturday arvo.

Applied for the plat card late at night, got the SMS around lunchtime the next day.

Mine was the same a few weeks ago. I found it strange (coming from bank CCs), that they didn't ask for any proof of my claimed income, such as payslips or talking to my payroll department.

Never received anything. Called for an update. Rejected despite perfect payment history and income almost doubled :(

Did they call your employer/accountant?

And do you hold an AMEX currently? If yes, how long for?

Got my decline letter and it had nothing to do with credit info. It was about being unable to verify some details of my application. WTF? So I've sent them a secure message about it and will follow up with a call tomorrow. Weird...

With Amex, no. With others, yes.

So would this be your first Amex? Going straight to Platinum might be high risk to them, especially a charge card. I'd recommend building a history with them if you haven't done so already.

When I was 19, I started with Gold Ascent, upgraded a couple years later to Platinum Edge, added Green Charge to my portfolio, year later got my Platinum Charge + Platinum Reserve. Only other credit card I have is a Citibank Signature (got around the same time as the Platinum Charge and only really used when Amex isn't accepted).
