You'd think that would be incentive enough to provide decent customer service, but incidences like this are fairly normal.

It's easy enough to use the customer service scores as a carrot to dangle as they dealerships are desperate to receive high scores.

FWIW, I don't work at Subaru or a dealership, but have had a family member work at one. That in itself didn't stop that dealership trying to pull the wool over my eyes.

I think it's all just window dressing though. The guy who called me was so rude and arrogant that I ended up getting the service manager to call me (who actually said he considered it acceptable for the other guy to abuse me down the phone if I wasn't giving him the answer he wanted...). He also said that they only have about 1 in 10 customers who rate them poorly and "that's good enough so we won't change anything" and that all the negative complaints about them online is "fake news".

Ended up complaining to Subaru directly as it's the second issue I've had with Tynan. Previously I'd taken the new Liberty - 5000ks old at this point - to them after it refused to start. They just charged the battery (not questioning why the battery had died) and sent me on my way apparently without testing it (where of course it refused to start again at 6 on a Friday afternoon). Was a real battle to deal with them. Subaru never even got back to me (after I lodged the complaint with a guy who said he didn't even know how to take a complaint). So the surveys do seem somewhat pointless.

Another sighting in SYD domestic (VA) terminal. The toyshop at the bottom of The Lounge escalator offering 0% Amex and 1% all other cards.

I have never seen this before in the wild !

The shop in ADL airport that sells the Haigh's chocolates has the same thing. Weird, but good. Very good in fact!
 
Had reason to contact customer services today on another matter & at the end made the usual complaint about excessive surcharges. The reply was "well there is good news coming, but I can't tell you just yet as it isn't finalised, they are still in discussions & should be up & running within 2 months"
Let's hope it's reduced surcharges & greater acceptance.

Let's hope so.

I used the Accept Amex site and reported the Holden dealer where I got my car serviced for surcharging 2.8%. I somehow doubt that is what they pay to Amex. If I knew for certain what they paid, I would also report them to the RBA (assuming that is even possible).

I would dearly like to know just what that means. Hope to see your post when you hear. Anything re reduced surcharges & greater acceptance would be music to my ears.
 
Took the following photo at local parking garage. Amex card just rejected repeatedly (both bank issued and Amex issued). Have reported and received generic reply. No scope online to upload photo or describe just "report site".

Pathetic.

When that has happened in the past with Merchants I have told them I refuse to pay and have no other method of payment - Admittedly it was only a small around around $20...

I have thought about doing that before. Did it work?
 
Our new merchant rate with American Express is dropping to 1.5% in a few days time. It was much higher previously.
 
Fruity Capers Toowong had cardboard signs on all cash registers no Amex or Diners.

I've done that before in France where the store had very large AMEX signs up but then refused to accept. Told them I only have AMEX and that's how I needed to pay. They could see my wallet and said I had other cards, so I opened it up and got them out - all were AMEX (I had a Visa tucked over in the next section, but they didn't need to know that). Suffice to say they went and got a different terminal which could process AMEX and accepted my payment haha!

I have noticed this recently a few times when paying and the shop has the iPad looking terminal. The logo is on the screen but they shrug and say "Oh it's never accepted AmEx".

I was in Holbrook (NSW) recently and the RSL club said I was the first person ever to ask if they took AmEx. I put that down to some sort of wacky country humour.
