I would assume buying Coles Gift Mastercards as per this targeted offer doesn't count towards the spend for SCs, as they would still be classed as a gift card?

Sorry Dr Ralph, I haven't been able to find this. I had a search in these threads:

The Hey You app for pre-ordering from cafes has kindly added a 3% surcharge for Amex - without warning also, just started appearing for me today - gave them a serve on social media and hinted it probably wasn't legal to just charge this without warning...

Really? That's such a shame. I've been using Hey You heaps because of being able to use Amex. Will definitely stop if there's a surcharge.

their reply was evasive and they simply stated that i could use VS/MC with no fee (no mention of the legality of summarily charging me).

i told them i wouldn't be using the app any longer if i couldn't pay via amex - might as well pay cash or directly to the cafe with VS/MC

If you've got an Amex with a category bonus for dining, might be better to pay direct and get the bonus points anyway. Not likely to get them with Hey You. I've ordered with Uber Eats and I don't get the category bonus - just shows up as Uber.

I use cabs as work won't let me salary sacrifice Uber rides so hadn't linked SPG up yet. Interesting idea SPG plus base Amex points on food deliveries.

While on hold, the automatic message states that the retreat is owned by Mantra Group.

Just reading the ACCC page on CC surcharges. Apparently 3% is an acceptable upper limit amount for AMEX.

ie Have you noticed (or been there since they implemented it). They do now; when we were there the other week there were notes taped in the menu that there is now a surcharge on all CC. And it was charged.
