Hi guys,

Newbie here..

I was hoping if anyone has the Amex Explorer Charge Card with them and are willing to share a referral?

Will possibly look at retaining this card for long as it doesnt hit my servicing with certain lenders - being fully paid off each month. Reasonable conversion rates and insurances etc..
Not keen on platinum as I cant justify its annual charges..

I am mate..

However I am not sure if this referral link would work for an Amex Explorer Charge card as well?

I am new to AMEX so not sure if this referral is same for a normal Explorer and an Amex explorer charge card as well?

Unfortunately no one else offers a Charge card..

There is no Explorer charge card. Explorer card is a credit card.

The only charge card is Amex Platinum charge card at a hefty annual fee

The part they highlighted also says "pay in full each month or over time" lol
Can definitely pay over time. Just either via PlanIt or with extortionate interest rates 🫠

OP, is this your first credit card? As mentioned by others, there's no Explorer charge card. Even then, charge cards are like credit cards as far as I'm aware; there's just no credit limit and you pay in full every billing period (same if you had a credit card; you should pay the closing balance in full every billing period to avoid interest charges)

Not the first card.. understand how CC works. Salary goes in offset to fully offset home loan.
All bills to CC which gets paid before its due date in full! This has been the case for the last 7 years..

But i am attempting to get a charge card instead without having to pay 1450$p.a as that I cant justify.
I more inclined for something under $500 p.a which gives me some reasonable points on spends, insurance on travel etc.. and I dont have to close it before our next property purchase etc..

There's no charge card below $500 p.a, not that I know of anyway. But if you are interested in applying for an Explorer credit card or even the Platinum charge card or Business platinum charge card, do consider using my referral link above.

Every other (business) charge card is under $500 :-)

QBR is $450 The American Express Qantas Business Rewards Card | Amex AU

Gold Plus is $395 The American Express Business Gold Plus Card | Amex AU

Velocity is $249 The American Express Velocity Business Card | Amex AU

Your best route to a charge card with amex is sign up to the platinum charge for a year and then downgrade to the green or gold charge. The closest product to an "explorer charge card" is the amex gold, however you cannot sign up for it directly. You MUST sign up for the platinum charge first for $1450 and then downgrade. There is no route to waive the fee. You cannot apply for the gold or green card directly.

The reason I say the closest product to an explorer charge card is the amex gold is that they share a lot in common, as both earn amex points, have some level of travel insurance, and have access to the hotel collection, however they differ in terms of annual fee and travel credit.

If you are interested in this, PM me and I can share my referral to the platinum charge. The sign up points should cover the first year fee when you take into account the other credits that it offers before you downgrade to a gold / green. It's actually quite a suitable idea given your circumstances.
