From ATW News:

American Airlines has told Orbitz that it will sever its ties to the online travel agency effective Dec. 1, terminating Orbitz’ authority to ticket AA flights on Orbitz.com and Orbitz for Business websites.

Wasn't there a similar issue between Orbitz and AA a couple of years ago? No doubt it's a fight over commission, or some other contractual arrangement.

I can imagine what's going on over at FT right now!

Don't some use it to get some kind of ridiculous mileage run ticketed?

I don't know about a specific type of mileage run, but I know that it uses ITA Software in back, so a lot of people use the ITA website and its complex routing language to find mileage run deals, then use Orbitz to replicate and purchase them.

I'm pretty sure it'll make a lot of people unhappy.
