American Airlines to cut 921 jobs | The Australian

AMERICAN Airlines said overnight it would cut 921 flight attendant jobs, part of a previously announced capacity cut as the industry struggles with flagging demand.

The 921 jobs amounts to about 6 per cent of the total number of American's flight attendants and includes 449 positions that were eliminated through voluntary options. The job cuts will be effective October 1.

Not as many job cuts as was predicted back in June.

Very sad.

Is there a regulated minimum ratio of FAs to passengers, per shift on long haul flights, to handle emergencies.

Which airlines would you rely on to book a rip to the US or Europe up to a year in advance with frequent flyer points or early bird sale fares? Emirates, United, Delta, Hawaiian, Qantas, AirNZ, Etihad, any others? :?:

Yes, though I don't know what that figure is. You can be certain that AA staff a plane with the legally required minimum.

Unrelated question? I'd be happy booking with any large carrier - just make sure you have insurance.
