I've been informed by WebJet that if I skip any of the flights on my ticket, then the rest of the flights will be null and void.

Does anyone know if this is true?

I have some flights ORD->CLT->TRI and TRI->CLT->DFW

I wanted to skip the TRI flights and go and see some of the countryside by driving from Johnson City to CLT instead of flying from TRI.

Apparently I need to pay WebJet $717 for the privilege of removing those flights otherwise I can't complete my journey. Is this hogwash, or is this actually the way it works with AA?

I've tried to contact AA by email but it may take them a few days to get back to me.

Not just AA but any airline. Skipping a flight will cause the rest of the itinerary to be cancelled.

That is correct with all single pnr fares.

Any change will result in any booking agency fees, plus any airline change fees, plus any fare differences. These can add up

Thats nuts - what if I miss a flight?

Yet they wont refund the cancelled fares. Seems a bit dodgy

Depending on the fare class and t&c they will...

I have previously cancelled the second leg of a return fare, but at best gotten about 20% of the total fare back... such is the difference between a single and return

You've chosen to book through Webjet and because they are your travel agent you will have to make any changes through them and no doubt AA will direct you back to them for any changes.

IMO Webjet are the most expensive OTA to use by a country mile so not only would you be up for any fare differences on AA, but Webjet will also have their snout in the trough with a myriad of their own change fees that they will probably blame on AA.

The only way to find out the true fare difference would be to go to AA.com (the US site, your browser may default to the AU site) and price exactly the flights you want to do ie ORD/CLT/DFW. Compare the difference between the base fare (before all the Webjet fees and charges) however you'll have to allow for the AA site charging in USD and Webjet charging in AUD.

What were the initial Webjet fees and charges? What do their T&Cs say with regard to change fees on your booking?
