Am I doing this the best way? Honeymoon F Award flight from LHR

This girl did good . Have been obsessively checking and waiting for release by Emirates. Knowing it was imminent at 7am I checked. Not yet on expert flyer. Waiting for Agent to arrive for inspection I checked on Qantas site and they were out for the whole trip. Pre planning showed I could get them F on 380 from Manchester (thanks guys) - Dubai then break in Dubai then Dubai - Syd in F on 380 then through to Adelaide in J, the latter leg costing no more points than stopping in Sydney.

If I booked the Dub - Syd - Adl separately then points stayed the same but only Y Sydney - Adelaide.

So purchased some top up points then booked on multi search. Got to payment and it failed. Tried again. Failed. Called up. Ah yes. Known glitch. Anyways Agent booked it through.

Now said future wife has a two word surname. That’s in her UK passport. Qantas rep assured me that no space in her surname on the booking is fine. I did stress this point. Thoughts?

Those taxes are a bit of a killer though.

Agree. The important stuff is pulled directly from the passport when it's swiped at checkin. The boarding pass doesn't really matter so much (even in the USA from my experience).

EK's system is archaic and strips the space anyway.

I’ve already searched cheap business class flights. Tried Vietnam Airlines but their website for planning is awful. The price for PE is only $300 less than J so not sure how that works!

It’s interesting that when searching Qantas then the flights offered are through Perth rather than EK. But we need to get to Manchester Not London with an extra hop.

I’ve already searched cheap business class flights. Tried Vietnam Airlines but their website for planning is awful. The price for PE is only $300 less than J so not sure how that works!

It’s interesting that when searching Qantas then the flights offered are through Perth rather than EK. But we need to get to Manchester Not London with an extra hop.

Anything on Finnair out of Bangkok? Have flown them before and they are OK. Cathay or BA from Hong Kong?

Or any offers from AA to buy points?

Seems it’s little early for them yet. It’s rather weird. I tried the same dates on the Emirates website for F - just to see ‘the savings’ and the same dates aren’t available for revenue flights so they must release award seats first.

I used my credit card to pay so might check with them if there is anything I should do to avoid stress. They might be a bit tetchy. Or we might even be on the same flight. But in the steerage section

I remember MrLtL's comment when he saw our (inside) cabin on QM2. To quote, "Good lord woman, we're in steerage!" From the man who considers a suite the bare minimum (Note, not when I'm paying!)

I dunno what Vietnam Airlines' startegy is with PE. Half the time it doesn't show a fare, other times it returns weird pricing. From what I've read you can't really go wrong with VN's fares to Europe.

I needed to purchase top off points as it was. They only had a two week window due to work stuff and exams.
