To add to the bits of coloured ribbons and what not people add to their suitcases, maybe its a timely suggestion to add some AFF luggage tags well to assist;

thanks to munitalP, I have copied and pasted his links;-

Get your AFF luggage tags here

I always thought a nice large Biohazard symbol would be a good one for identifying ones bag, and preventing theft at the same time....

There is of course one glaring flaw in this cunning and devious plan.....;)

.....like the possibility your bag may not be loaded & that you get taken away in a black Chevy Suburban to assist the CIA with their enquiries

Went to the shops today doing some research to buy a laptop.

Next to the electronic section was the bag section and I remember thinking why do all of us either have red or black.

Well at this David Jones shop there really isn't any choice.

Red and Black on TwitPic

Red or Black.

There were 2 blue ones but they were an icky colour.

I know what my bag looks like, normal black suitcase with named DJ tags and AFF tags, if in doubt you can look for QF's nice mismatching wheels and if still in doubt, open it up and look for the duct tape that QF covered the rivet holes with.

Cost base cutting to the max:rolleyes:

I need to get some AFF labels to help make my leopard print bags look a bit more distinctive.

Some of the folks in this thread have mentioned the idea of applying stickers or tape to bags, so I've a question: Are the AFF tags available as stickers for bags?

I'm a bit late into this. But I had exactly this in Adelaide from either DJ or QF (or perhaps an Alliance operated QF flight). So the wrong baggage carousal can happen anywhere

Ditto, but I don’t put my AFF tags on a suitcase, I’d lose them too fast that way. Ribbons adorn the handles and tell me it’s my bag. I do have a QP tag on the top too though.

I actually saw a pilot in SYD in April that had a fishing "spinner" that was brightly coloured on all his bags. I guess if he ever needed to check them in, they’d be a dead giveaway on the carousel as it’s rather unique. The hooks were of course taken off ;)

Glad I'm not the only one with a leopard print suitcase. :D
I bought the Landor and Hawa Domo Sassari luggage in the leopard print as they looked distinctive, and the cabin roller is compliant with Australian domestic sizing.
Figuring that others would also buy leopard print luggage due to its stand out appearance among the bland black bags on a carousel, is why I am interested in making mine look somewhat more individualized.

Bright red Samsonite hardshell spinner with Qantas gold tags is usually distinctive enough when I need to do check in.
Otherwise, carry-on is pretty good for two weeks away.

The classic was the rainbow straps my parents got for their suitcases for travelling the world. After about a year or 2 I finally told them that the rainbow is the international sign for gay people. They refused to believe me. :D

Rainbow flags, sure, but rainbow straps, I wouldn’t automatically assume the traveler was gay. I’d probably head for bad taste straight off the bat, then maybe distinctive luggage ;)

Must admit to the use of coloured straps on my black Antler bag, they are orange and green "safety" style, and easily seen from afar. ;)
