Alternative to TripIt = TripWaffle

I don't use apple or gmail emails but outlook so had to sign up with my gmail. All the notifications from my friend's trip come to the gmail and I asked him to change it outlook but now I don't get anything. Is there a workaround or do I just need to keep checking gmail as well

If you go to Settings > Account and put your Outlook address in "Notification email". Everything we send will go there instead of Gmail.

Go to Settings > Email aliases and add your Outlook address there too:
tripwaffle.com/settings/email-aliases/

This will help with the trip your friend shared with you.

After that you can also sign in with your Outlook address using the email link option, and you'll land in the same account.

Any issues, feel free to hit the support option in the app.

My TripWaffle App icon has the little red dot containing the number "1" which, presumably, means there is a notification of a change to one of my itineraries. However, when I click on the icon it just takes me to the dashboard or the last page I had open, with no indication what the change is; and look as hard as I might, I can't see any change or what it is trying to tell me.

Assuming it is a notification, it would be helpful if clicking on the icon took me straight to the relevant part of the App.

I believe that dot means there's a notification still sitting in your phone's notification tray.

To see what it was, swipe down from the top of your screen.

Tap the TripWaffle notification and it will take you straight to the relevant page. Or swipe it away, and the dot should disappear.

Android seems a bit varied in how it handles these things, ie. I don't get the dot/badge on Android 16.

I believe it's also a global setting called "Show app icon badges" that can be enabled/disabled.

Thanks for the response. When I swipe from the top of the screen there is nothing re TripWaffle. I presume it's something to do with my phone .

As you say , Android can be variable; I'm also on 16 and I do get the dot.

I'll play around with the phone and see if I can work it out.

This morning I received a TW push notification that a QF flight in December has been rescheduled to depart 45 minutes later.

I've checked the QF app, QF website, Expertflyer and seataero and all are showing the departure time unchanged.

What source do your use for these notifications @tripwaffle?

EDIT: About four hours later another notification and the flight seems to be back to the original departure time.

Apologies for this. Our schedule coverage inside the ~30 days before departure is near 100% but we've recently been pushing that out to flights months ahead.

Unfortunately your flight fell into the ~3% error rate we're seeing for these far-ahead scheduled flights (likely xmas/boxing day related). We are measuring and improving that error rate continuously and have now corrected for your particular case.

Previously we weren't even looking at scheduling for flights that far out, but figure it's worth the trade-off given flight times re-check against live tracking closer to departure, so a wrong far-ahead time will be auto-corrected closer to departure regardless.

Some feature requests if I may...

I've been wondering about my lifetime travel spend, or my spend year-to-year. To calculate this I'd need to apply a value for any redemptions (fights and hotels), plus a way to exclude travel funded by my employer.

So, requests would be:

• In the expense section, a field for the number of points redeemed and ability to add value per point enabling a notional cost to be applied?
• A check box or toggle to mark trips as either personal or work?
• Ability to generate a spend report? Either overall or maybe broken down by year, or category etc?

I may come to regret these requests and fear my lifetime travel spend my be eyewatering.

More than happy to pull on this thread, but wondering if you'd be better served by ability to do a CSV export of your expense data to date?

Eg. trip name, trip dates, event type, event name, event dates, cost, currency

Yep, works for me if that’s easier for you. Probably still needs a way to split personal/work travel.
