Alternative to TripIt = TripWaffle

Here's a potentially curly one for you. What would be great to see is a seat map, maybe brought up by clicking on an icon next to where your seat number is. Wonder if Aeroplopa would be interested in sharing maps for their paid subscribers# (and so then, more info than just the maps) - may encourage more to be paid over there.

I'm another person wanting a cleaner/more minimal view, with less images and things like flight departure and arrival grouped together in one event. Opening the same trip in TripWaffle and TripIt demonstrates how TripWaffle is ~1.5 times longer to cover the same items. Also, with things like flight departure being an event and flight arrival being an event, details that I want to see (e.g. seats, layover time, flight time) are relatively small and separated from the event. This makes it harder/slower to see these details.

I successfully imported >200 trips from TripIt, but driving items don't seem to be supported by TripWaffle? While the directions themselves aren't usually useful, I use this event type in TripIt to estimate travel time and mark departure times for long drives/road trips.

I may be missing something, but there doesn't seem to be a way to manually add specific transportation events. Sure, I can email a confirmation and it can figure out it's a rail journey, but manually adding a "Transportation" event doesn't seem to pick-up the mode. Some modes have specific info that needs entering (e.g. carriage for rail). One of TripIt's good features is that, on web, it filters rail origins and destinations to rail stations landmarks, making manual input/editing of these events quicker and easier.

Finally, one thing I'd love to see is better support for public transport. I often add rough PT trips to my itineraries, but it depends on context. For a frequent service (e.g. metro), I just want to see which line/service I need to take from stop X to stop Y and roughly how often it comes at the time of day I'd need it. For infrequent service (e.g. an outer-urban bus) I do want a specific trip, with Route number and, if applicable, any ticketing quirks noted (e.g. exact fare only), so I'm prepared for that. Most transit systems publish GTFS and international PT apps (e.g. Transit) also work with this data and could be a useful integration, but I acknowledge that this could be a big ask.

Separately, if a hotel name ends with the airport name, for instance ‘Sofitel London Gatwick’ or ‘ParkRoyal Melbourne Airport’ the details and image picked up seem to be of the airport, not the hotel. If the name includes the airport name but ends in something else, for instance ‘Crowne Plaza Changi Airport , by IHG’ the problem doesn’t occur.

We've improved the logic around this, and back-fixed any problematic airport hotel. Thank you for the report.

Currently, when we can, we link to the seatmaps.com page for that particular aircraft. Displayed on the flight details page...

Confirmed: we'll add support for TripIt's "driving directions" item type today, and see if we can back process existing imports.

Never say never, but this does sound like a big task. Your request is noted though; if we get other users asking for similar, we'll take a closer look.
