Alternative to TripIt = TripWaffle

Hi all - big day, but we've just pushed a significant design refresh.

Some of you will be relieved to know we've taken our foot off the "brown" pedal a little, and have also implemented a light mode.

By default, dark/light mode will mirror your device system mode, however you can override it via the avatar menu in the top-right.

There's still a lot of tweaking to do, but the bulk of it is now in place.

Thanks. I have been playing with it with our future trip and it all seems good so far. The light option is a worthwhile update.

Never liked any trip planning apps, this is by far the best looking one. Playing around to add future trips into it. Any chance of having a Cruise as an option to add in? Even if we have to manually add the stops in?

@tripwaffle would it be possible to import flight data from Flighty?

A Flighty import tool is now tentatively live within the "settings" section.
It's a bit of a dark art to automatically derive "trips" from flights, but we've given it our best shot.
Tested with your sample export data (thank you!) and it seems to hold up ok on the dry runs.

Good news! We already support cruise itineraries (and just about anything else for that matter!).
Cruises are treated as one long accommodation event, with port calls automatically broken out as seperate events.
An example of an itinerary created from a single cruise booking email...

It happily took my current cruise! Even picked up the Ports of Call - which TripIt DOES NOT do. Quite a manual process with TripIt.

Only quibble was the booking confirmation didn’t specify Sydney OPT as the departure point and so it defaulted to White Bay.

@tripwaffle Would it be possible to give the choice of maps app in iOS? Links go to Apple Maps but I would prefer Google Maps. (Default apps in iOS 26 no longer allows choice of default navigation app so I’m not sure if you can override that).

Also the pagination in prints is a bit off. As shown in the image, a line can be cut in half (A4 paper size).

Solid request thanks. You can now specify map app of choice in settings > preferences

Print issues are harder. Assume this screenshot is from ios? We'll spend some time on this tomorrow.

Yes, it’s a screenshot of print to pdf, but the same happened on a physical paper print.

It really is a LOT better than TI for capturing cruises. It was a right Royal PITA trying to enter POC for our current cruise due to some quirky ports that TI didn’t recognise.

Tripwaffle did a pretty good job off the booking confirmation but I deleted that and sent the cruise booklet that came a few weeks before sailing. It was able to parse all the ports and timings better than the original booking confirmation.

The only thing it doesn’t do is show your route between ports (which would be a best guess v a flight between A and B).

eg orange dots are POC, blue line is a flight. Actually, there’s a POC or two missing - start and finish! Which is probably technically correct. But odd it doesn’t show those?
