Alternative to TripIt = TripWaffle

oooh that's an interesting one. There'd be concerns about leaking sensitive information (names, booking numbers, etc) via a public url though. Would .pdf export work in this scenario for you?
No different to creating a link to a OneDrive file really. I think Kayak does this actually.

For the public link/email that's used for sharing, it should only include dates, flight details (arrival, departure times and cities as well as flight number). Hotel bookings should just have hotel name and check-in/check-out dates.

PDF is annoying. Scenario. I'm going to visit a relative in the US as part of a broader trip. Just want them to know my movements but don't need to share sensitive info like booking numbers etc.

Imported 100 records from TripIt successfully.. not sure when I first started using TripIt but wondering if it's got a limit. Will have to check vs open flights later.

If it helps reassure- we've had someone import over 400 tripit trips spanning back to 2010 😲

Mine also rounded out to 100 trips exactly when I imported. I thought that seemed a little round. Just checked and I have 147 trips in TripIt. Looks like there is some limitation. FWIW I use Firefox.

My bad- turns out we introduced a bug in a recent update to the tripit importer: the script was asking for 50 trips per page but tripit's API is returning 100, which tripped a safety check that cut the loop after the first response šŸ™„

This is now all fixed if you want to run the import process again (your existing trips will be skipped).

Apologies for the hassle.

I don’t really use these types os app - yes I’m a Luddite!

But I’d like to compliment you on your open minded and responsive approach to feedback from AFFers, @tripwaffle. You have lucked in to a really expert user testing group here, and it’s fabulous that you are taking all the suggestions so well.

Still seems to be limited to 100 trips

That's very kind of you to say- but honestly just grateful for the opportunity here. The feedback, and ability to iterate rapidly on it, is absolute gold from a product development perspective.

Grrrr. Hard for us to verify here sorry, as like some kind of rock-ape, I've only got 46 in my tripit account šŸ˜”

If you have the patience for it, please test again now.

I've rolled back part of the script to code I've seen work previously with 100+...

The new script logs "[TripWaffle] Script v3 - v1-first pagination" to the console when it starts. If you don't see that, you still have an old/cached version.

Much appreciated.

All good. Happy to help :)

Script is missing now though. I've tried a hard refresh of the page.

I've been travelling, so haven't been able to get into it.

Going back to Flighty - how many features of the paid version of that does TW cover?

If it does a reasonable amount, + its TripIt coverage, I'll be in like Flynn.

Just out of curiosity, are any of these products able to generate itinerary options based on AI research?

Say if you select your interests, a city, dates, it will tell you an optimal set of things to do and where to go, etc.

I had an idea to build something like this, but figured surely some existing players would have.

tripwaffle does flight tracking and alerts for delays, gate changes, cancellations and bag belts. We also track physical aircraft location when data is available on the ground based ADS-B network, and use that to do some predictive alerts e.g. "your flight is supposed to leave in 1 hour, but your inbound aircraft is still 1.5 hours away".

honestly though: we're not as good as flighty for flight details and won't be for some time. Part of it is a focus thing, and the rest is not paying for firehose / commercial satellite data feeds.

we are tracking our flight alert metrics though, and steadily improving them over time, with the goal to be as useful as possible.
