Gone after 61 years. I have flown it many times, with happy memories. Very sad news.

I Was in Hawaii (big island and Oahu) last week, I actually flew Hawaiian between the islands, I spoke with an Aloha pilot at Hilo airport who was quite worried about his job, he loved the multiple flights that he got to do bewteen the islands each day. He said their simply was not enough room for the three airlines (GO! Aloha & Hawaiian).

That predatory airline Mesa (aka Go!) killed off Aloha. You have to blame United for bankrolling Mesa as their UX partner.

Watching it all unfold, I was amazed how quickly United created a "how to..." page on their website...

Aloha, being a partner of (and partl-owned by) UA, had a great way for Aussies to burn orphan miles on AQ's inter-island flights.

Having the ability to book open jaw tickets meant it was possible to fly from HNL to two other islands per 5k miles redemption.

I can only re-live the memories of the ancient 737-200s on an OZ flight!

Vale AQ and sympathy to its loyal staff whose jobs have been on the line since the failed merger attempt with Hawaiian an the unfair business practices of Mesa.

I agree UA has to share the blame for its association with both AQ and Mesa/go!.

ROFL... bumpy, but still boozey* @ 12! YMMV [*quality wine, served in JQ focussed style, rather than plonked by QF service].

I have never heard of them until now. Almost 62 years in service and now gone. It is a shame but life goes on. They are still operating cargo so you never know what may happen in the future. I hope all the employees find suitable employment quickly.

Our CR200 had maybe 20 ppl on it and the competing Aloha flight (732) maybe 50 ppl tops.

I remember thinking "Gee they must be burning fuel like no tomorrow, I wonder if anyone actually makes money inter-Island."
I guess not.

Flew in a full 737-200 from HNL to OGG ret in July 2006. This is a disaster as it was an efficient way to travel inter-island.there are 2 airlines left that do this. Speaking to my TA yesterday she said that they still had PX booked on AQ who were after refunds. Reminds me of the demise of AN
