Hi
I broke my radius when I slipped on ice in NZ on a recent holiday. It was cast over there and I had no out of pocket expenses due to their ACC program which is great. I let my insurance know via email and then called them when I got back to give them a heads up in case anything didn't go well. I tought everything would be fine but at follow up xrays 3w later the drs here recommended surgery ASAP. Surgery ended up being about $3.5k after medicare and private health rebates. Do I have any avenue of appeal with my travel insurance? I also checked my CC insurance but it is also through Allianz so no dice there either. There is really nothing in the PDS that either allows it nor expressly disallows it although it does say medical treatment overseas so I guess I am just out of luck??? I will try a different avenue with Allianz but any suggestions
Thanks heaps
J

So the surgery was conducted in Australia?

Do I have any avenue of appeal with my travel insurance?
Nope if the answer to the first question is "yes"

I guess I am just out of luck???
Travel insurance is insurance for expenses incurred while overseas.
It is not for expenses after arriving back from overseas due to an injury overseas
Additionally travel insurance is not legally a "health insurance" product in Australia.
So yes out of luck,
