OK, I know is states there are "Subject to Terms and Conditions", but why does the Qantas booking site say that QFF members can earn xx_ number of Status credits for a booking, with Emirates flights clearly in the Booking, when in reality there are no status credits at all. Just got dudded.

Seems like another one of those exclamation marks where you pay for Business/PE etc but one of the sectors is in Economy!

Was your Emirates flight booked with a QF flight number? From what I understand, SC's are earned on Emirates metal ONLY when booked with a QF flight number. I flew EK a couple of times this year and had no problem receiving SC's.

Same here. as long as its a QF flight number on the EK flight the SC's have been awarded no problem, to date.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the wording QFF members "could" earn x points and y sc.

Sadly has an EK flight number. Yes, it says Could - but in the interests of transparency why even show this message when it isn't true.

As with what others have posted, you will need a flight number of QF8xx_ to be able to earn SC and points (as on the simpler and fairer chart) on EK metal. If it's just EK flight number it's distance based, with only the applicable CoS bonus.

I don't disagree with you.

Especially when the same flights were cheaper on the Emirates website. :(

Silly me, thought that booking on Q website was a good thing to do re status. Clearly not anymore.

I know this is no consolation but one has never been able to earn status credits for EK-coded flights, only points. This has been the case since the start of the partnership.

So even though you booked on the QF site, they were not code share flights? That's a bit off IMO. Did you get SCs for any other them?
If available the booking engine sometimes displays inventory for both the QF and the EK codes of the same flight; you need to be careful to select the QF coded flight if you want the status credits.

Looking at the Qantas site I only see Emirates flights with a QF code, therefore booking such a flight would entitle you to points and status credits.
If the flight was booked with an EK flight number, I am unsure how that could be from the Qantas site. Just curious.

It is not unusual to be offered both the QF and EK flight number on the QF site.

Ah; thanks Mannej, This did not show when I looked at a few options. Therefore this post highlights how careful we need to be.

The title of this post should start...I made a mistake...(kind of like an AA confession)

Next time booking, remember the mistake you made and don't make it again. Simple, no one mislead anyone, why blame QF?

Cheers
BF

Yep, my learnings from this is dont book Qantas but develop the relationship with Emirates and use their website instead.

There are no QF flight numbers for this trip listed on the Qantas website. They are all EK.

There are some services where Qantas doesn't codeshare on EK. Sometimes there a regulatory restrictions that prevent this. Also, the booking engine offers flights on partner airlines in addition to Qantas flights. Depending on where you are flying you can see all sorts of airlines pop up on the Qantas booking engine.

Yep, see that now when I look at some dummy bookings on QF. Rather tricky IMO, especially in that flights are usually/often cheaper if booked directly with the other airline.

It's quite easy to book an EK-coded flight on the QF site. Even easier when its $1500 cheaper than the QF code  SC are good, but not worth that kind of extra money.

I had always (clearly wrongfully) believed that the reason why Qantas website flights were more expensive than Emirates (same flights) due to the reasoning that the Qantas website provided Q status credits.
