ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

VH-EBQ 'Wolgan Valley' operated it's first commercial flight post refurb today as QF513 BNE/SYD.

VH-EBP hasn't flown since arriving from PER yesterday so may be straight in as a replacement for refurb. Means there are only the 2 Skybed 1 configurations that aren't refurbished or in the hanger.

And EBQ went into maintenance only four days ahead of EBO, so I suspect one of these two SkyBedI aircraft will go in very shortly.

Methinks that one aircraft will likely be dedicated to QF3/4 SYD-HNL for the rest of August with a few domestic runs on its days off.

Why would it be anything except a refurbished A330-200? Maybe a -300 during peak times.

There has been discussion on this very thread that the refurbished -200's do not have sufficient crew rest facilities for longer flights as they have primarily been configured for domestic operations. Hence why HNL has not seen any refurbished -200's, unlike Jakarta and Singapore which regularly see refurbished -200's.

Could well be (already on the -200's to Jakarta and Singapore one J seat is reseved, rear J cabin right side), but begs the question if it is that simple why they haven't done that already to make fleet allocation a bit easier for themselves.

Also galley space on the -200 are smaller. Again on current config not enough space for duty free trolleys, so could well be an issue going to HNL depending upon catering demands for those flights.
 
Chances of a refurb to/from HNL early November?

The only problem with that is there will be 8 fewer seats available so reduced chances of points upgrades to J (48K each way). Have been lucky as 100% success rate 2/2 but didn't worry about it last month as we got a sale fare outbound of AUD479.00 so would've had to pay $701.00 for a saver fare to go in the upgrade lottery. A friend who was in J on our flight said there were several empty seats up front so we would have got it but them's the breaks.

So if that's the case we're now looking at 26 J class a whole 10 less seats than on the current config.

I'd be placing a large amount of money on a bet that the 300s will be used for HNL. Several reasons, one of which is the number of toilets - no way QF will try to make do with 1 toilet in J on the lengthy flights to and from HNL.

The 200s will be used for domestic and limited short haul international (think CGK and SIN).

The A332s are still in the timetable for PVG with a listed time of 10hrs55mins. Most flights are showing A333 but QF has been mixing these up on the actual day. (I notice for next year when the refurbs are supposedly complete it looks like only 333s are scheduled, but if QF subs out the suites now for old Mk1, why would they be particularly concerned about only one toilet?)

Dare I say there could be a chance of an up-gauge? If the route is proving that popular and the J seat capacity is justified, maybe QF will consider shuffling the 744's around to provide a HNL service?

Could look around the 744's that operate the HKG/YVR/SFO routes?

when I was viewing the seating for my HN flight in november I noticed they had reduced the amount of toilets in first & business class. Hope I don't have an accident waiting for the toilet.

I think the fact that QF only put 1 toilet on their -200's, particularly 'international' ones, probably indicates how much they care about passenger comfort sometimes. Whilst I know they were trying to make the fleet consistent... surely a sub-fleet of 4 birds with an extra dunny wouldn't have been too much to ask for. No money in toilets of course.
