Thank you mannej - so bearing in mind that there is scheduled maintenance that at present can sometimes dovetail with the ongoing refurbishments that moa999 so kindly keeps us appraised of - is the combined A332 and A333 fully utlised on a busier day such as a Friday according to official timetables, or is there a spare or two, even if one of each type is being refurbished?

Isn't one oddity that with its new BNE - NRT flights, BNE now has more QFi A330 departures each week than MEL to Asian destinations?

I'm not criticising QF - it has to allocate its aircraft where it believes it can sustainably (i.e. at acceptable yield) fill them to 80 per cent or whatever, and it only has 10 A330s, which are now fully occupied - and MEL has more flights to LAX than BNE with QF, and the MEL to DXB/LHR daillies that are all either A388s or B744s - but on the face of it one might expect that Melbourne's much larger population might mean more nonstops with A330s to southeast and north Asia than BNE. I'm omitting any JQ flights as these are obviously not QF metal.

MEL continues to lack QF nonstop flights to CGK, MNL, PVG and Japanese destinations among others (although JQ flies to Japan ex MEL, and QF codeshares with MU.)

What's the news. MEL has been a QF backwater for over a decade. It's why I barely flew QF in recent years. Back with them quite often now because they still give VA an easy lickin in premium cabin service and I prefer have OWE over the other options. It's still the best card to hold for me.

Just booked QF51 on Nov 22 and QF24 on Dec 7 and both are showing new config so fingers crossed at least one of them will hold, grabbed 4A on both.

Looking at the flightradar24 data for today, the combined A330 fleet is fully utilised with no operational spare.

Best chance for new J suite?

Hi all

Looking to get back to SYD from BKK or SIN on 7/12

I know its a long way off, but could anyone speculate if I have a better chance of the new J suite on QF24 or QF82 ?

Other option i guess is QF8418 & hope for a bit of EK upgrade love :)

Thanks in advance
K

Check the seat maps for the flights on EF.

Aircraft are always subject to substitution at the last minute.

Had EF open and both 24 and 82 are showing as the new config on this date....

Re: Best chance for new J suite?

I'm booked on QF24 on 7/12 and it's showing new config but no guarantees it will hold. The SIN flights seem to be more likely.

Just some data points

06/08 QF5 SYD-SIN : Old config

16/08 QF52 SIN-BNE : New config

I really enjoyed the new J. I found sleep very easy in the new seats with the mattress.

I did think that the table was very close to the top of my thighs when eating (and I like to think that I don't have thunder thighs). Could be user error.

You'll have to excuse me for silly questions, but how do I figure out whether a particular flight PER->SYD on 15 Sep is the new config A330 or the old one? The link to seat maps when booking are quite generic.

On VA you get to the seat selection screen before the payment screen - I think it seems reversed on QF?

(I recently flew J to London for work and they mandate QF whereas I normally fly VA on my personal account, so I have some QF points to burn)

You use Expert Flyer.

It depends on the actual position of the seat, and trying to move the seat with the tray table out can potentially create accidents.

EBK is off to SIN on Saturday for repaint from JQ to QF colours, following reconfig.

EBF should be back from SIN repaint just prior to commence refurb.

Question re: bassinet
Does the new A330-300 business suite (row 1) have bassinet that anyone has seen?
Thinking of taking the little one and hoping there is a bassinet.
