I don't think that it would be safe to say that at all! Sure it would benefit as would every route including domestic where most of the 738's are still needing refurb and personal IFE. As time goes by all the planes will be refurbished so, you know, be patient! (lol)

Is there a thread/site tracking the different refurb status (as in IFE types) of the domestic 73H fleet out of interest? Qantas Source, which is sometimes a bit out of date has 29 with AVOD (ex Jetconnect of course) which was a bit more than I thought actually!

Going OT but I think Qantas Source is fairly accurate. The 737 refurbs haven't started yet again - those with IFE, both regular and BSI were delivered with it (the 75th 737 RetroJet is under a year old).
Refurbs to commence later this year.

What do you mean of course? Jetconnect has 8 aircraft all with AVOD, so what? They fly Qantas routes, so why shouldn't they have it. They along with some VH registered aircraft were the first to have it and every Qantas 737 delivered since has it.

I think the reference was to the domestic 737 refreshment program, which AFAIK it hasn't commenced yet.

See I thought the poster was making a snide remark that Qantas only gets 2nd hand aircraft. Overall that really isn't the case, and especially not the 737's.

Though interesting, Qantas has 29 AVOD, Jetconnect 8, so that makes 37 in total, with 38 non AVOD a/c, so basically have the fleet has AVOD.

Yeah but infers the ones with AVOD were ex Jetconnect which they aren't. That's what I don't understand in their post.

SYD - BKK is seeing its first refurbished QF A330 today if my recollection is correct with VH-QPC heading off on the 0945 hours flight.

Fittingly for QF's long haul division, it departed late and is running an expected 33 minutes behind time, the forecast being for it to arrive at 1708 this afternoon Thai time.
 
Refurbed 333 has operated the BKK flight 11 times since 7th June. Quite a good strike rate for any BKK passengers.

Excluding because they don't fly domestically.

The common abbreviation for excluding is excl, not ex. Ex is normally previous. But thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks in my line of work ex = excluding which is why I used it but no worries glad you understand now :)

Meanwhile, first time in the new refurbished A333 J. Absolutely loved it.

I was in 2A and Mrs Chooms was in 2E. Didn't mind the consoles of both seats being between us, we still could talk across the aisle when required. Being a red-eye flight, we actually preferred the extra cover from foot traffic.

You could notice the difference in space in front of the seat (noted Row 2 of old J on A333 had three windows, Row 2 of new J has two windows) but it provided easier access to the fantastic new screen and AVOD... didn't have to touch the controller once! Speaking of, the controller being tucked away under a cover is a good improvement on the Skybed... noticed I kept bumping the old controllers a lot.

Footwell: I was a little concerned about the limited space, but my fears were not warranted when I finally settled into bed mode. Could move from sleeping on back to side with ease with my size 11 feet.

I could move between the seat and the aisle with ease even with the console being in the location that it is.

Too late now, but I would like to suggest they should start at Row 1 with the console on the aisle side rather than the window (rather than the even number seats). This would have shielded pax in 1A, 1E and 1K from galley light during the red-eye flights and not made much of a difference to other seats.

Food was ordinary, but sleep was achieved. All in all, best improvement to hard product on QF I have seen since new F was introduced on the A380.

Having flown again recently on the CX J product, I would say QF is superior. The CX interiors are getting tatty, and tired IMHO. I love competition.
