At the moment the single aircraft is flying QF35/36/81/82 - effectively alternating SYD/MEL-SIN (although it has recenetly done a BNE/SIN

Based on the timetable of the first aircraft the second should be ready in the next two weeks.

This should enable QF to go QF35/36/81/82 on a daily bases - but there is no guarantee they will do that (it just seems most sensible to get high utilisation out of the aircraft)

Check ExperFlyer on 7-Apr shows 2/2/2 config for QF 5/35/81 - so I suspect that they just haven't yet programmed which routes the new plane will be on,

I was on QF35 on Saturday March 7th which had the new business class seats (I thought they were excellent). Caught QF36 on the flight back on Monday March 16th which had the old seats (which weren't too bad)
 
Does anyone have any opinions on the best J seats for a couple. That's on the assumption the couple wish to talk to each other :)

Flying to Hong Kong in June ex Melb, up until a week, showed we were in new confiig A330/300 now has changed back to old style. The new J class has a non removable divider between the two middle seats, we had looked at row five taking the window seat and the one the other side of the aisle. Some of the window seats have the actual seat offset to the window, others have the seat offset to the aisle if that makes sense. Would probably prefer to just have an aisle separating us than a divider that you can't remove and shouting over the fence to one another, not that we have to worry about that now unless they make change of aircraft again between now and mid June.

As far as sitting "together" across the aisle, just take note that the staggered seating means that (for example) row 4A window is most closely adjacent to seat 5E in the middle section.
 
Just bumping this question. Currently allocated 24J & K for a QF81 SYD-SIN and QF52 SIN-BNE both on refurb A333 birds in June/July :D. Hopefully the refurbs stay locked in... & I've put in the upgrade requests for both ways. But if the upgrades are unsuccessful, I'm keen to know the legroom for 24KJ.

I did 23K on an A333 between PER-SIN a few years ago and the legroom was shocking with the bulkhead... switched to 24K for all subsequent trips in whY on the 333 since.

In my experience, the bulkhead room is fine, not as spacious as in some other layouts, but quite OK. Mr BB is much taller than I and found it OK but not brilliant. The interesting thing is that the staggered layout of business is closed off by a curtain that closes diagonally across the aisle so that the aisle seat feels slightly "hemmed in" during flight. Nothing untoward that would prevent me sitting there, but the exit row seats (44) at the rear feel they have more space.
 
I have found that the aircraft cannot be relied upon until almost the last moment.

The first time I was hoping for a J flight on the new config, the aircraft was changed four times in the previous few days (one moment it wasn't, then it was, then it wasn't :(), but then it must have changed again mid morning for a late afternoon flight.

I hadn't expected the new config, so had changed my seat to the centre of the aircraft, but upon check-in I noticed my seat number had changed and #Bingo# new config, so a quick chat to the service desk and I was able to enjoy the flight seated in 4A. It was fantastic for me, as I hate being hemmed by the window without means of easy egress so never choose a window seat; having a good sticky beak out the window for a change was great fun.

Bring on mid April, with possibly 3 300 refurbs flying, these side tracks won't matter too much to detract from the focus on the Au - SIN penetration. Second guessing the aircraft for a SIN flight will be a lot less stressful.
 
I can see the seat map for my up coming flight to HKG from MEL in May has been changed to the new configuration :) However, as the flight is still over a month and a half month away I am not getting my hopes up to high.

Oh well, I suppose its not a huge lost even it changes back to an old configured aircraft as I will be in Y.

I have 2A allocated. EF is showing old config but all seats in both classes showing full.

I would expect all (or almost all) of the fleet to have been converted by then. It's still a long way out, so I think they just loaded the default and then worry about it later.
 
Given VH-QPA (A330-300) was done first and now QPB and QPC are in for their refurb, with presumably QPD next after it's back from its repaint, QF is likely trying to get through it's -300's first as they are having a C check done at the same time.

Sadly, no. By QF's own timetable, just over half of the fleet should have been reconfigured by then. Doing all of the fleet is projected to take until the end of 2016.

Admittedly I don't fly QF internationally (being from Perth) - however I had hoped they would focus on fixing the coughpy domestic birds first. In particular those with the recliners as opposed to the SkyBeds Mk 1.

Just got back from a trip to Melbourne and the way over was on an old Jetstar bird which was substandard for BC. On the way home had the Mk 1 seats - which although no longer top of the range - is still a very comfortable ride.

It looks as though the focus is on the international birds however - obviously trying to get a consistent product on the QFi fleet first.

Not quite sure about this statement.

At present there are 2 domestic A330-200s flying and only 1 international A330-300.

In Brisbane there are 2 330-300s and 1 330-200.
By end-April the flying ratio will be 3 of each.

i agree. By end of May, there will be 4 of each QPA-D and EBA, J, S, V.

However with a smaller A333 fleet and more routes, they will be able to bring consistency to some routes faster on international than they will be able to on domestic, with fewer routes and a larger fleet.

Reconfigured A333 VH-QPC will undertake a test flight this morning as QF6001 BNE-BNE.

Re entry to service tomorrow will be on QF503 BNE-SYD before taking up the QF81 SYD-SIN.

QF35 and QF81 will now operate with reconfig aircraft daily, except when maintenance is required obviously.
