ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

moa999, FlightAware - Flight Tracker / Flight Status / Flight Tracking indicates that VH-QPI has begun its descent into SYD, not MEL.

While only the Good Lord can know everything, I had thought that you were one of the closer AFFers in those terms. A rare slip up. You must be tired from your amazing A330 table compilation.

Perhaps I am confused in my dotage, but FR24 suggests that VH-QPJ and not VH-QPF has gone on the MNL excursion today as QF19.

Lol. Merely guesswork. Sometimes you guess wrong.. Maybe QPE was on a BNE-HKG-MEL-SYD-xx_ pattern so its picking up the flight from SYD

QPI is positioning to SYD to pick up the QF5 to SIN I'm guessing.

QPD positioned SYD to MEL this morning to cover QF35, with QPE out of action today due to late arrival back from HKG.

QPI was scheduled to operate QF536 this afternoon to carry NRL traffic. However was subbed to an earlier SYD - BNE - SYD rotation to ensure it was back in time for QF5, as I assume QPD, which went to MEL, would have operated QF5.

QPI would have remained in BNE tonight, allowing QPF to go into the hangar tomorrow, when it returns from SIN. Instead an A333 will position tomorrow morning from MEL to BNE after QPE returns tonight, the positioning flight is arriving around 8am, so QPF can begin reconfiguration.

Many thanks flyerqf.

And this is why configs change last minute.
A typhoon in Hong Kong has thrown out the planned schedules of at least three aircraft for a couple of days as the schedulers try and limit the impact on passengers

Many thanks Flyerqf. VH-QPI on QF5 departed SYD eight minutes early at 1657, so is already 1000 kilometres northwest of SYD. It is indeed an excellent illustration of weather that might only be known 12 hours in advance, given the propensity for typhoons to alter course or even 'blow themselves out', yet throw AFFers' best laid plans into semi-disarray (if chasing a particular aircraft type - to wit a refurbished A333.)

And looks like QPE has flown back to BNE as QF6002 after its 12-hr late QF30, which should mean QPF is now in the shed! (After operating a QF51/52 turnaround)

Also of interest (per a post on YSSY) is what is happening with VH-EBM?
Last flight as QF598 PER-BNE was on 29-Aug - so it has been in BNE for longer than most of the recent A330-200 conversions.
Is a 2009 delivery so unlikely to be a C-Check

Given VH-EBM is approaching the 6 year mark, my guess is that it is in BNE for C4 (6 years) check which involves structural inspections and this would take a bit of time.

OpAlso spent an hour updating the flight analysis for Domestic Flights.

This covers the 14-day period from 23/9 - 6/10 which is when EBF became active (and EBI left the fleet).. Over this time there were 16 active 330-200s (with EBE, EBM in BNE) of which 7 were refurbed.
Rather than using Jet Tracker, I have instead used Route tracker - to take account of the usage of 737s East-West, and again pivot table to summarise

A number of special flights were run over this time (many to do with AFL Finals I believe) so it may not be a totally representative period.

Flight times from Google Flights (so post DST) and where times differ depending on day of week, most common time used.
Red flights designate >50% chance of Refurb, where a 330 is flying.

BNE retains its crown as offering the best chances..

Will theoretically be a 2 in 3 chance on a 330-300 (6 of 9 aircraft flying) once the swap occurs

This does not apply as certain routes are getting priority as you know.

I assure you there is not a 2 in 3 chance of a refurb flying to CGK or MNL on any given flight.

Looks like Honolulu got some New Business Suite love Friday Oct 2nd. Mate just txt me that his QF4 to Sydney has new Suites. He's one very happy chappy :)
Look's like VH-QPD had the honours.
What a joke. I have had 2 MEL-SIN in the last 2 months with the old config.
Pretty sure QF targeted these suites for the SIN route initially. Now they are flying them to HNL.
Such inconsistancy, gives me the irrates.

Ever since the introduction of the 744 and the bypass of Honolulu as the transpacific refuelling stop Honolulu travelers have had to suffer with the oldest and coughpiest aircraft in the fleet. They deserve some love.

Same applies with the bypass of SIN on the kangaroo route.
They have all been the old Mk I A333's after they had the 747's and A380s.
Singapore = Business
Honolulu = Leisure (mostly).

Have to vote with your wallet! If enough people stopped flying because of the inconsistencies/lack of compensation, QF would act. SQ is quadruple daily MEL-SIN. Granted not all have full flat beds, but for the services designated as such you're pretty much guaranteed.

Better than 767's! I don't buy the leisure vs business argument. QF is a full service airline and should provide consistent quality across the board, especially given their pricing over the years to HNL has been at full service price levels.

CGK has been almost 100% for the past few weeks. EBS and EBV have been sharing the honours on the QF41/42

So on the SQ flights to Melbourne is that new or old J seat? I can answer, it depends, because SQ is upgrading their 777ER's and on any given ER flight new or old could appear. Yes both are full flat beds, but very different products.

i don't know TBH. To me full flat is full flat when it comes to comparing with angled flat.

I'll compare various full flats only if two or more operators are offering them.

Having recently sampled SQ's new* 777-300ER business class seat, all I can say is it is chalk and cheese compared to the old. It is comfortable to sit in and you don't need to sleep at an angle across the seat, unlike the old seat, also found on the A380. So whilst they rollout the fleet they too will have product inconstancy. I know you will find something to say it is different, because it doesn't fit your Qantas bashing narrative, but fact is it is a different product and IMO a hell of a lot more comfortable to the old. In fact I prefer the SQ regional product over their old long haul J.

*New, well it first appeared in 2013, they are only now getting around to refitting the older 777-300ER's. Imagine if the howls of inconstancy if Qantas had of done the same.

ahhh..gotta love 'social' media...where people complain about stuff..yet they still choose to use that 'stuff'...because complaining about 'whatever' seems to feed their (self)importance..ie..if they have nothing to complain about..they don't feel important :D BTW i'm not complaining..I'm observing and laughing out loud :D
