My crew lead by CSM Sam were absolutely outstanding. They'd had an extra overnight away due to the cancellation and could be forgiven for being a little grumpy, but were just fabulous.

No, it's not okay for them to be grumpy. Passengers can be grumpy, crew are paid to be professional, friendly and courteous and to represent the company positively.

Which by reading the post it suggests that the OP would be empathetic if they were grumpy, but they weren't on that particular flight.

Not that I don't disagree with you though.

Waiting for QF 61.Expert flyer shows it as old version but we have row 6 so better be the new version!

Correct. I think the OP was saying they weren't grumpy. I'm just disagreeing with the notion that it would be okay for them to be grumpy. It's their job not to be.

They're also human beings

Maybe some people prefer dealing with non humans and their lack of human 'traits'... because that's what 'they are paid to do'!! Interesting that I have been watching a couple of tv series recently... the Swedish series is called 'Real Humans', and the British version is called 'Humans'... google them and maybe watch them... they are a great insight into what our world has/may become!

I just booked a classic award for MEL to SYD next month in business class. I selected an A332 flight and during seat selection saw that it was the new business class. Looking forward to trying out the product! Hopefully there is no last minute substitution - now I'm just disappointed the flight is so short :p

Give it a break! Whilst Humans was at times interesting it's the same old theme that has been flogged ever since HAL. I'm an android but I have feelings too! It really has very little to do with people who choose to work in a service industry remaining polite and friendly even when their day might not be going to plan.

I thought being human from Australia and working in the service industry meant grumpy is standard and anything else is a bonus?

Guys I have just booked a flight from CGK for next month and below is the seat map as per QFs MMB. Looks like I have lucked on the new J ? :D:cool:

From the available seats, which is best for a solo traveller ?

(And yes I know the risk of equipment sub etc)

Looks like a refurb 332.

I prefer 2A/K and 4A/K as they are closer to the window and the table is between you and the aisle, making it more private (and easier for drinks top ups). However judging by your status you can't select those rows as yet. You could come back at T-80/T-24 and try for those seats.

Alternatively I would probably go for 5F or 6E.

The rearward mini cabin is more private in flight, but you have 200 economy pax pushing past you when boarding. Also you're the last to be fed, and can be a bit forgotten that far back.

Thanks.

Any reason to go for 5F or 6E as opposed to the window seats which I would normally naturally select as a solo traveller ?

I know with the refurbs that some seats are wider than others (23 v 24 v 25 inches) - is this the reason you have recommended the middle pairing ?

Not having a go just wanting to know the reasoning.

Cheers

I prefer the seats where the table is between you and the aisle / FA. It's just personal preference. I am not very big (...hic), so getting past the table into those seats is easy.

As always YMMV. Windows are always good on 1-2-1 configured aircraft.

NB - I have never measured the seats, so rely on others for that advice.

dairyfloss and Ansett, if the new seats/ beds are not performing to passenger (and presumably QF's) expectations in 'responsiveness to commands', surely the seats/beds would still be under warranty from the manufacturer?

They are complex pieces of equipment, but presumably were tested numerous times without and with light, medium size and heavy individuals of both sexes pretending to use them.

Hi - one would certainly hope so - and I would hope that they are taking the issues back to the manufacturer quickly and repeatedly so they can review and supply remedy. As far as testing goes... we can only guess what was done! In any case - real world performance is what they need to worry about most.

Cheers,
Matt.

I know this is a pretty petty gripe but I have a couple of flights coming up that have switched from old to new and back to old.

Normally in a 2-2-2 we take one of the window pairs as my wife prefers the window but after failing to be side by side across the aisle last time in the new 1-2-1 I had put us into the center pair.

I get that nothing is guaranteed however it is really screwing with my seat selection. Every time it changes it splits the two of us up and puts us in less than desirable combinations.

Same thing happened with my friend last month coming back from Shanghai. Old, then new, then old again.

Solution? Last weekend QF was asking $6300 to fly to Shanghai. But there was reluctance to fly Qantas until fleet can be guaranteed. So the revenue went to SQ.

VH-EBF (ex JQ) back in service today making it 7 330-200s. Will update tracker on next few days once EBE goes into refurb

Re: Qantas A330 business suite - has it commenced?

Hi there,

does anyone know if PVG has the new config yet? Qf129/130. Flying late October and wanted to know. Also, what do you think the chances of bronze requesting points upgrade like?

many thanks

Re: Qantas A330 business suite - has it commenced?

According to qantassource, some of the refurbed 332 J seats have a "small" side table and others are described as having a "large" side table.

Does this have any implications in terms of
-storage space
-space for eating
-overall comfort and convenience ?

Thanks

Theqantassource.com tracker shows a mix of refurb and non-refurb 330-300s as well as the two remaining international 330-200s

You always have a chance, but lower than other elites
