Just out of curiosity, Why do you prefer row 2?

On the new configuration I prefer row 2 - seats A or K as the seat is against the window instead of the Isle. They seem more private.

My QF81 flight next month has been changed from new to old version... :(. Was kind of looking forward to trying the new J seat out.

Hoping for another aircraft change...

I was lucky today, when I booked the flight it was one of the ex Jetstar birds, I was very happy yesterday when it was subbed for the new config.

I hope it works out well for you and you get lucky.

A few more pics of VH-EBS.

View from the "Gucci Cabin" looking back towards whY from J seats 7EF & 8EF. The only side seats in the second cabin in J are 7A & 7K however immediately behind you in whY is 23AB or 23JK where the bassinets are so could be problematic depending on how loud any infants scream. Seats 8EF are also close in proximity to 23AB & 23JK.

23AB bassinet row. I think the only reason to choose row 23 would be if you were travelling with an infant 6 months or less. It's not an extra legroom option & if travelling whY would rather sit further back even if someone in front of me is a recliner.

23JK bassinet row.

Exit row mid-cabin 44JK which has plenty of leg room for the 'A' & 'K' seats unimpeded by exit door unlike the B744.

Appears I spoke too early on VH-QPE - back in the sky today after only five days in maintenance

Pretty much every airline bassinet will only fit up to about a 6 month old baby, at most a VERY tiny 10 month old

Not sure why the parents thought a 12 month old would fit

Children and Infants | Qantas

As bassinets are limited, please ensure that you request this at the time of booking. Bassinets on Qantas flights are approximately 71cm long, 31cm wide, 26cm deep, and have a weight limitation of 11 kg. If your infant is too large for the bassinet and is travelling on the parents ticket then they must be nursed.

My tall 11 month old firstborn fit in the QFa380 bassinet in y on a trip Mel - Lax no problem. I found the bassinet the biggest I've seen.

My 7 week old 2nd child had no chance on garuda in the bassinet. Was far too small.

Also the bassinet on CX in J was too small for my 12 month old as well. Luckily for us she tucked into where my feet went and slept quite a bit!

Probably 50/50 in July but might be a bit better in September. Seat map is best guide

The seat map currently supports your view. Old config in July, new in September. So I quickly changed my seat allocation on the September flight to get a K seat. I know things can change but it will be fun to compare the 2 products. Hopefully I get the opportunity to do so.

How long until your flight? There's always a chance it'll change back... I've been watching one of my BNE-SIN flights and it's been changed from new to old and back to new in the space of two weeks.

I did QF589 from BNE-PER on Tuesday. My first time in the new J cabin. I must say, for a domestic product - I was very impressed - it is really good. It actually lays "flatter" than the MKII skybed - which these days tends to have a slope on it from wear & tear.

Which flight numbers on PER-MEL and MEL-PER have been getting the refurbed birds lately ?
Are any of them reasonably consistent ?
Looking to book something for August. Cheers.

Most consistent seems to be the red eye and the flights westbound that become the red eye

But a very mixed pattern at present.

Go to theqantassource website and look at jet tracker

So QF653 and 648.
I know that their are no certainties but in a world of no certainties high probabilities is the best we can hope for.
Cheers.
