Hi
Travelling Syd Per for the first time in years tomorrow on a A330. There was a time it was a weekly trip. I know I wont get the new product but am wondering what they are offering while they upgrade. Do they still have that PE type seating?
Thanks

I am sure if you post your flight number, someone will be able to determine what product you are on.

QF575 19/12

Seats 23 & 24 DEFG do not exist, has EF as the middle J rows -- so not the PE-esque recaro seat with the blocked middle seat. Looks like the older recliners, which are a bit wider than the PE seats.

Also has changed for MEL-PER flight for me too on 3/1:

The minor downside is that I've been moved away from my travelling partner, previously was a window pair. I can see blocked pair seats on Expertflyer for rows 1 and 2 but as a lowly SG cannot select them.

I'm on that flight the day before!! I have the DF layout :(

To be honest until I see it in the flesh (ahem, sorry - I mean LCC leather) I'm not going to get too excited.

Interestingly when I selected the flight around 6 months ago the seat map suggested Skybed and then around a month ago it dropped to the DF config, so I wonder whether this was just the default placeholder until they loaded the new map into the system.

When I booked it was an international twin cabin layout, then went and stayed on DF

Have any of the new Business Suite configured A330s started flying yet ?
Does anybody have a route/date ?

Someone has a lot of free time to come up with the list? :)

I have some SIN bookings to do over the next couple of months, hoping they will update the map for those soon.

Great digging.....

Certainly not optimal from a press perspective - not many journos around to report on the first flight.
But I guess they want to get it into service so they can pull another one off the line for the refurb

Just noticed Qantas have updated their website with the official new seat map for the A330-200 - see here: http://www.qantas.com.au/infodetail/flying/inTheAir/ourAircraft/332-28J243Y.pdf

Confirms that they have expanded the forward galley which reduces J class to a single toilet!!!

Something I don't understand is why they didn't make more of the window seats, 'real' window seats, with the shelf by the aisle, makes them much more private and you get to enjoy the view properly! Would have thought rows 1/3/5 & 7 could have been reversed to be against the window and that would have only left rows 2 & 4 sitting against the aisle....

I note that it also says Domestic.

The A/E aisle seats are also more private than F/K as on the F/K side you have two seats open to the aisle.

Excellent point. I wonder if there was a good reason for the layout as it really only leaves 4 "window" seats

Thank you for the hard work to check out all those rotations. Impressive!

Seems the original plan to include some SYD-MEL sectors has gone out the window. Makes sense given the time of year and load

I just hope this aircraft does not fly International - one toilet for 28J pax is not really acceptable for an international route.

Perhaps QF has had a change of heart and may have an "International" 332 configuration perhaps with 28J/227Y (say with two less rows of Y), but with additional galley space and one more lavatory for J class more suited for flights to destinations such as Honolulu, Jakarta and Singapore that the 332 often frequents.

As an aside, the configuration seems quite space efficient. Only a loss of 6-8 J and 22-25 Y seats, with the introduction of a fully flat bed product instead of recliners in J.

Presumably the curvature at the front of the cabin means that the row 1 window seats had to be that way; due to the space needed for the foot well. If the row 1 seats were butted up against the windows, then for the foot well to be directly in front, it would need to hang halfway outside the aircraft's frame - so the tootsies could get a bit cold.

If the same were done at row 7, the foot well would have had an argument with the door. You can actually see the extra protrusion of the foot well from the bulkhead in front of row 7, on the diagram.

Exactly what I was thinking
