ALL Accor+ Explorer Membership Discussion

Did I get this right - there isn’t an option that would extend Platinum beyond 1/1/2026 without earning the nights needed?

Or is there some way I can ask Accor to “renew” my Plus membership using my Amex benefit - and would this be of any advantage? That’s where I’m getting confused.
You got it right, in your situation the only option to retain Platinum for 2026 would be to stay an additional 12 nights this year to make 30 + the 30 bonus.

All members will be reassessed 1/1/2026 regardless of renewal or sign up date.

For me paying $150/night to stay at a Sofitel as a Platinum is a bargain.
Totally agree, for me the changes are excellent. I go from 1x 100% off night (that is hard/annoying to book at Sofitels in Sydney and Melbourne) to 4x 50% off nights (with hopefully open availability) when combined with RHR rates the free breakfast, club access etc it's definitely a bargain or break even but I will save even more when needing to make bookings that don't have RHR rates available.

I would be very confident the Stay+ night will count as that's how it works now for bookings of more than 1 night (or with additional spend as you mention for single nights)

Thanks. That’s doable. So actually better to activate Accor plus after October 1 so there is no confusion about bonus nights.

Another consideration, and I don't know the answer for this. Will the Stay+ night count under the new program? After all you are paying for the hotel in part with cash? That could be attractive to those looking to rack up the nights for status, particularly if they aren't interested in dining at the hotel restaurant to trigger the night stay credit.
Yes - no changes to this that we can see. They already count a Stay Plus night as a status night, so long as you spend something on the folio (charge something to the room, like a drink or service). This of course would generally be the case going forwards due to the 'Buy' night of the 'Buy 1, Get 1 free', and provided you don't pay the folio using ALL Reward points.

I’ve read through this thread and can’t see my own situation:
Was Accor +, achieved platinum in 2024 so platinum until 12/2025
Did not renew Accor plus in March as I decided to rejoin in December 2025 to use “platinum hack”
Obtained Amex Platinum Charge in March and have not activated Accor + benefit for reason above

I have 12 nights currently with at least another 6 planned for the remainder of the year, so under my plan would have ended 2025 with 48 nights, but still had platinum until December 2026.

Is there any advantage in activating the Amex Accor Plus benefit prior in September - ie prior to October 1 ? I’m assuming that it will count as a new membership rather than a “renewal”, so I would get 20 nights and would be assessed on 1/1/2026. But if I join via Amex after 1 October I will get 30 nights bonus and still be assessed on 1/1/2026.

If you activate it now your account will say you are platinum until Aug 2026. Whether Accor will retract that on 1 Jan 2026 remains to be seen. The FAQs do not directly address this issue although it indirectly suggests that they will retract it. It may or may not be worth the gamble.

Accor are pretty reasonable for sticking with “Grandfathered” conditions. ie when they changed Ibis Biz (instant Gold for the life of membership and thru to Dec of that year) to ALL Ibis (10 nights per year), I renewed Ibis Biz for 2 yrs just before the changeover and maintained at least Gold for ~3 yrs. I never received 10 nights per year because I’d signed up under the old system.

I can’t guarantee it but it’s not unreasonable to think that they’ll stick with the current extension for those signing up/renewing for the Oct changeover?
