Alitalia to shut down on October 15 2021

The consensus of stuff I read seemed to be that Lufthansa's offer was better on paper but the Italian government wanted more stake and control than Lufthansa was willing to cede.

I can understand why Lufthansa didn't think that was a good idea.

I must say that I find the look of this new ITA A330 very easy on the eye.
Early reports indicate those light colours get dirty stupidly easy.

On a side note it looks highly likely that within the next 12-24 months ITA will be full snapped up by Lufthansa and become a star alliance airline.

From an LH partner perspective I think VA would be a great fit and provide the LH group with a far greater access to the AU market.

LH already interline with both the QF and VA groups. They seem happy enough to keep the status quo for the past few years.
