Hi All,

As the title suggests. I have been asked by a friend to bring him back a bottle of Paddy Irish Whiskey.

Now, I'll be leaving Dublin on the 26th of March, flying to London then onto PHX.

A week later PHX to LAX to MEL.

Now, I know in Aus I can bring in 2.25l of Duty free alcohol. However, I am not sure how it works in the US and whether they will bat an eye lid at my Irish whiskey.

Hopefully someone is able to assist :)

The main thing you have to worry about is if it's in hand luggage. If not, the the only other thing you need to worry about is it cracking in your bag and leaving a horrid, Irish Whiskey smell through your bag!

If it is hand luggage then it means it is subject to LAG rules, and will be confiscated at the third leg (PHX-LAX). So you would want to put it in checked baggage by that point (transfers within the EU with DF bought and correctly sealed generally aren't subject to LAG rules. If bought at a different source (eg a bottle shop), then it needs to be in checked baggage)

I don't recall any limitations with import of alcohol into the US, but am sure there are some. Either way, a 1L or 1.25L type bottle shouldn't trigger them.
