to confirm, is it 60,000 per person AUS-USA via HKG in J? and you can add a free stopover in HKG?

Cheers

Yes or 80,000 with the HKG-USA leg in first. You can also add internal USA flights on Alaska airlines as well.

is that effectively ticketing 2 separate legs? i've read that finding 2 F in advance is harder but opens up closer to departure date?

also - do you mean an add. leg post the CX one. e.g. from LAX onwards to somewhere else for the same cost?

I got the 40% bonus offer (which I normally purchase through), hubby got the 50% bonus (never made purchase).

Don't think there is a CX F out or in to OZ from HKG, so have to be J to HKG then F the rest, from memory doing this it may be a F points cost all the way. CX is an excellent entry to the USA via HKG as CX fly direct to so many cities therefore missing LAX.

Not sure exactly what you are asking re. "effectively ticketing 2 separate legs"? J to HKG and F to USA will be charged at the F rate (80,000). Yeah 2F can be hard. Depending on flexibility I'd book J all the way and when F opens up close to departure "upgrade" the ticket. I just did that yesterday for my partner actually - seats opened up a week out. Interestingly enough there was 2F available when first booking but at the time "business was good enough" however she changed her mind in the months since .

Yeah say LAX-SEA-JFK. Can only be Alaska flights not another partner airline. The stopover rules I'm not sure of and it may depend on the agent. I booked: JFK-SEA-LAX(stop)-HKG-BNE but you could maybe get a stopover in SEA also.
