Sitting at Melbourne airport looking out over the apron. Wanted to postpone my trip, but unfortunately had no option but to fly today, unfortunately.
Although I was a little worried that the place would be chaos, it's actually quite normal out on the concourse and even the lounge is no more stuffed full than usual.
The only noticable difference is that a 747-400 is sitting at gate 11 waiting to fly QF 444. I can't see the registration from here, but expertflyer shows it as a 4-class 744. The lounge angels offered to move me onto it - tempting, if I could snag a PE seat - but they couldn't tell me what seat I'd be moving onto.
Interestingly, they said that they couldn't even look up a seat map because there are 'different levels within platinum', and each sees a different set of seat availabilities. More evidence for a system of pro-active onload, or PCV.
Anyone else flying today?
