I didnt do that leg but recently bought some economy seats and upgraded at the check in counter, $299 for the upgrade on the day as opposed to almost 3x the price buying straight up.
I knew there were 5 seats available in the premium cabin due to checking a few times in the days leading up to the flight, so i made sure i didnt check in online and got in line early to snap a couple of them up.
Decent seats for the price, especially for an overnight flight to catch some shut eye.
