Thanks in advance, but if anyone can help me with a good and reasonable driver with decent wheels for airport and hotel transfers plus some other driving it would be greatly appreciated.

Any tips welcome!

I was in coughet in November for my Honeymoon and we used a private driver named Chai, he has a big SUV so comfort is really good;

Inter call +66884484592

(for his website google 'driverinphuket Chai' - 4th link down)

We paid 900 Baht for an airport transfer to Katathani which is further south from Patong and Kata Beach. He was great, reliable, always on time, quick to reply on Viber, very friendly. Car was also good and he provided a bottle of water on longer trips which was a nice touch. Couldn't have asked for any more. He also has another driver or two that he uses if he is busy.

Otherwise check out TA, there are heaps of posts about drivers there (that's where I found Chai).

Some of his rates when we were there:

My #1 man has used a guy by name Baw (pr Bow) on several occasions - Ph: +66 85 906 7132 - he is based in Patong - his demeanour / persona / dispensation of duties - 'FANTASTIC - SENSATIONAL - 100% RELIABLE - DRIVING IMPECCABLE - PUNCTUALITY TO THE MINUTE' - and my man had already booked him again for August - he just called Baw and YES more than happy to hear from prospective Australian customers.

Call him or SMS him for quote if you are interested - hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. Much appreciated.

Any insider tips for honeymooners? We are heading over late June/early July).

We are staying at two hotels over the 8 nights we are there: Four nights at the Amari in Patong (in the new Ocean Wing with club access) then four nights at Bandara at Cape Panwa.

Happy to do a trip report when I get back as these are two brand new places.

I have used coughetshuttle.com for a few years now. You can pre pay online, cars have always been clean and friendly drivers, no issues with airport pickups. Once when we couldn't immediately see the driver there is a central line you can call (excellent ENG skills) and they contact the driver and let you know their exact location.

When you stay in Patong book 'Joe's Downstairs' for a special dinner that overlooks the ocean, go around sunset for the best view - they do a killer lychee martini.

Surin beach is beautiful and still has beach clubs/sunbeds you can book that include drinks and lunch (the military removed basically all sunbeds in coughet last year). My fav beach is Laem Sing and is quiet but if you are not great with stairs, access is an issue.

It's about the same distance from Panwa and Patong, but I like the seafood markets in Rawai, you can purchase the seafood from the market stalls and literally across the road are various places that offer a cooking service, and they will cook it up for you - YUM!

Happy honeymoon :p

Check out the weekend night markets in coughet City. There's so much food, drinks and shopping to be had there and cheaper than the main tourist areas.
